I have a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from The University of Chicago and a Juris Doctor from Indiana University Robert McKinney School of Law.
Hi, I’m Demetria Agharese, and I help people who are tired of feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or disconnected from themselves find their way forward.
My ideal clients are adults who may look like they have it all together on the outside but are quietly struggling on the inside. You may be the person everyone depends on while privately battling anxiety, intrusive thoughts, OCD, self-doubt, burnout, relationship difficulties, or the pressure to constantly “hold it all together.”
Maybe your mind won’t shut off. You overthink every decision, question your feelings, replay conversations, worry about what might happen, or feel trapped by thoughts you wish you could turn off. Maybe you’re navigating a breakup, divorce, major life transition, low self-esteem, or simply wondering, “How did I lose myself?”
You don’t have to continue living that way.
I offer a warm, genuine, culturally responsive, and judgment-free space where you can put down the weight you’ve been carrying and talk openly about what’s really happening. I don’t believe therapy should feel like sitting across from someone who simply checks boxes on a diagnosis list. I believe you deserve to feel heard, understood, challenged when needed, and supported throughout the process.
Using evidence-based approaches such as CBT, ERP, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, behavioral strategies, and mindfulness, I help clients break unhelpful cycles, face fears, manage difficult emotions, build confidence, establish healthier boundaries, and become less controlled by anxiety and uncertainty.
Most importantly, therapy with me is collaborative. I’m not here to tell you who you should be. I’m here to help you discover who you are, understand what matters to you, and develop the confidence to live accordingly.
If you’re ready to stop simply surviving and start creating a life that feels more peaceful, authentic, confident, and meaningful, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

I have taught at Northwestern University, as well as, Lake Forest College as a faculty member. I have been a Clinical Fellow at the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy for over 20 years. My goals for each patient are individually thought out according to a collaboration between patient and therapist. I can teach you how to become your own best advocate. I’m a licensed clinical social worker who believes therapy should feel safe, collaborative, and genuinely human. Reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, and I work intentionally to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and never judged.
I often work with adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship stress, attachment wounds, and the lingering impact of difficult experiences. Many of my clients are high-functioning and capable on the outside but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck internally. Together, we slow things down, make sense of patterns, and build practical tools that actually fit your real life.
My approach integrates emotion-focused work, strengths-based perspective, psychoeducation, and motivational interviewing. That means we’ll explore both the “why” behind your experiences and the “how” of moving forward. I value clarity and transparency in therapy — I’ll help you understand what we’re doing and why, while keeping the process grounded and collaborative.
Clients often describe me as calm, thoughtful, and direct in a supportive way. I’m not here to tell you what to do — I’m here to help you better understand yourself, strengthen your confidence, and move toward the life and relationships you want.
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready for change, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

I take the time to get to know my clients and have many clients who have been with me for years. That doesn't mean someone will see me every week for the rest of their life. It means client know I am available when they have need. I do have clients who have seen me weekly for years not because they are dependent on me but because they have found benefit in processing their life regularly.
I have had a successful personal practice for years and can offer clients the space and reverence to unpack the most unpleasant things to reorder them in a way they no longer can cause harm as they once did.
