Cheryl Lucas
I have spent more than 25 years helping people navigate difficult seasons of life. I support clients who may be feeling overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, grief, caregiving responsibilities, health changes, aging, or other major life transitions. I also have a special interest in supporting girls and women through experiences such as pregnancy, fertility concerns, postpartum changes, perimenopause, menopause, and the emotional and physical changes that can come with these stages of life. My goal is to offer a supportive space where you can speak openly without judgment. Together, we can better understand what you are facing, identify your strengths, and develop practical ways to move forward.
First session
In our first session, I will briefly introduce myself and explain what you can expect from therapy with me. Because therapy is centered on you, you will set the goals and direction. My role is to offer tools, resources, and insight to support your progress. I will also complete a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment by asking questions about different areas of your life. This will help me understand who you are, what you are experiencing, and what you hope to achieve. We will develop your goals over several sessions and review them regularly to assess your progress and make any needed changes.
Strengths
I bring many years of experience working with people facing grief, trauma, substance use, serious mental health concerns, parenting challenges, homelessness, and major life changes. My approach is supportive, client-centered, and focused on your strengths. I also draw from motivational techniques and specialized training in grief and loss to help you explore what may be keeping you stuck and identify realistic steps toward change.
Ideal clients
Ideally, you will begin therapy with an area you want to address and a willingness to invest in your healing. This includes being honest during sessions, reflecting between visits, sharing feedback about your experience, and completing any assigned homework. Homework may involve practicing the tools discussed in session and noting how they felt, how they worked, and was it helpful.
