New to Grow
I’m Matthew Springberg, a mental health therapist who works with adults experiencing anxiety, trauma, substance addiction, relationship challenges, and major life stressors. I take a compassionate, person-centered approach to therapy and integrate techniques from EMDR, CBT, and strengths-based therapy to help clients better understand themselves and create meaningful, lasting change. My goal is to provide a supportive and nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable exploring difficult experiences, building healthier coping strategies, and moving toward the life they want for themselves.
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a comfortable, supportive therapeutic relationship. We will spend time discussing what brings you to therapy, the challenges you are currently facing, your personal history, and what you hope to gain from the counseling process. My approach is collaborative and nonjudgmental, and I want clients to feel safe being themselves while we work together to create goals that feel meaningful and realistic.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to create a genuine, supportive environment where clients feel comfortable being open and honest without fear of judgment. I combine empathy and authenticity with practical therapeutic approaches such as EMDR, CBT, and person-centered therapy to help clients better understand themselves, process difficult experiences, and develop healthier ways of coping. Clients often appreciate my ability to balance emotional support with direct, meaningful conversations that encourage growth, self-awareness, and lasting change.
I am best positioned to serve adults who are dealing with anxiety, trauma, substance addiction, depression, relationship challenges, low self-worth, and difficulties managing stress or major life transitions. I work well with clients who may feel stuck, emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward, but who are open to self-exploration and meaningful change. Many of the clients I work best with are looking to better understand themselves, improve emotional regulation, heal from past experiences, strengthen recovery, and build healthier relationships with themselves and others.

I identify as
EMDR
I utilize EMDR in my work with clients experiencing trauma, anxiety, and negative core beliefs. I incorporate EMDR within a trauma-informed, person-centered approach to help clients process distressing experiences, improve emotional regulation, and develop healthier beliefs about themselves. I often integrate EMDR with grounding techniques, CBT, and strengths-based interventions based on each client’s individual needs.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I utilize person-centered therapy to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered in their growth process. My approach emphasizes empathy, authenticity, and collaboration while helping clients explore their experiences, build self-awareness, and develop confidence in their ability to make meaningful changes. I often integrate person-centered therapy with other approaches based on each client’s individual needs and goals.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize CBT to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, improve emotional regulation, and develop healthier coping strategies. My approach focuses on increasing awareness of the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while helping clients build practical skills they can apply in daily life. I integrate CBT with other therapeutic approaches based on each client’s individual needs and treatment goals.
