Hi, its nice to meet you. I have been a therapist for a decade now. Before being a therapist, I spent 20 years in Healthcare Administration with 17 of those in management. I share this because I understand the stress that comes with the "corp" world and management.
After 20 years, I decided to change careers and utilize my skills in coaching and mentoring. I received my Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. I am a health and wellness focused licensed professional counselor, so I spend time talking about how to balance your life, your stress, and ensure you are having some fun in your life.
Therapeutically I'm very eclectic. I use different techniques based on your needs. That being said, yes, I use CBT, DBT, REBT, talk therapy, and assessments as most therapists do.
My primary focus is all types of Anxiety, ADHD testing in adults, Executive Functioning, Self-Confidence, Life Changes, and Couples/Relationship Counseling.
I do have a "day job" so the work I do through Grow is part time, evening and most Saturdays.
Do you feel at times your distressing emotions are a non-stop express train in that it seems impossible to stop the train? Are there times you feel overwhelmed by your negative thoughts? Is it a challenge for you to manage your emotions? Hello, I'm Rose-Marie, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Life can be stressful at times and it can be hard to cope with the everyday changes and curve balls thrown at you. Sometimes we don't think about the importance of our mental health. We struggle with adjusting to the changes life sends our way and may end up becoming anxious or depressed. In today's busy world we find ourselves playing multiple roles that require a lot of our time. We may even find it hard to communicate our feelings, emotions, wants and needs in our various relationships. As a result we may neglect to take care of ourselves or may focus more on one of our roles while neglecting the others. As a working mother of two, I totally get this and I am passionate about helping other parents navigate these demands. I can help you explore and find ways to cope. I use cognitive behavioral therapy to help address the thoughts that led to depression and increased persistent anxiety. I also use Solution Focused Therapy to look at what worked and how to do more of it.
The great thing is that you took the first step by seeking a therapist. This can be scary, but I believe in creating an open and safe environment for you to share issues and feelings without feeling judged. I work with you at a pace you feel comfortable with while building the therapeutic relationship.

I didn't always know I wanted to be a therapist. Growing up in a household where mental health issues were present allowed me to see firsthand it's effect on individuals. After undergraduate school, I landed my first job in a psychiatric hospital. That's when things clicked for me, and I knew that I wanted to help people become their best selves. I had a natural curiosity to understand the world, how people think, and what drives human behavior. I also believe in the power of connectedness. All these things came together and pushed me to pursue my graduate degree in counseling. My experiences early on taught me that no one is perfect, we all struggle, and we all deserve grace. I am here to tell you that your story doesn't have to end where it is now. I aim to show that we are all resilient and have the ability to overcome challenges.
