Hello! I'm Abigail, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), based in Florida. I received my Masters from Indiana University and have been practicing for over 10 years. I help clients and families of all ages, children through elderly, who are wanting to enjoy life more, work through difficulties, and build skills for life and coping in preparation for anything life brings.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This, along with your intake paperwork, will help us create a personalized plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions, as well as goals to work toward.
My abilities to connect, support, and motivate help clients in whatever their circumstance. Having worked with children and their parents/guardians for over 10 years, I've developed the ability to address your priorities first and then to re-focus on the goals. I have a variety of ways to relate to every age, including single parents, couples, and elderly, as many are caring for children.
I have a trauma specialty and have worked with trauma clients/families for the over 10 years. The goal is to make life more functional and relationships more healthy. With CBT, it integrates the emotions, thoughts, and behaviors altogether so they are unified as we work toward your goals together.
I have been a Christian since I was little. My faith influences all of my therapy approaches, but clients can choose to include Christian-based therapy, using Scripture and prayer during sessions, if desired.
I tend to integrate DBT into every session in some way, shape, or form. This is a very straight-forward approach and will be used in clinically-appropriate moments that push clients closer to realizations regarding their goals.
Most of my career has been child and family therapy. This includes healing from family events, unifying the parents/guardians and children toward similar goals, guiding children and parents/guardians through difficult conversations, building trust and independence through healthy boundaries and respect, etc.
I have a specialty in SFBT. This is where the client has a very specific goal and we work quickly through the solution to solving that goal.
