Hello! My name is Alana. If you answer yes to any of the following 6 questions, you've come to the right place: 1) Are you feeling stressed, lost, sad, anxious, stuck, overwhelmed, or without direction? 2) Are you having relationship or marital problems? 3) Are you experiencing conflict with friends, family, neighbors and/or co-workers? 4) Are you having difficulty concentrating or accomplishing everyday tasks? 5) Are the activities you once loved, no longer enjoyable? 6) Are you having difficulty controlling your anger or regulating your emotions? In practicing for 30+ years, I’ve had the opportunity to help thousands of people just like you to find joy, contentment, enthusiasm, inspiration, love, peace, and purpose in their lives. I’ve met many of my clients at their lowest points and have always provided them with steadfast support as they tackled their toughest challenges and reached for their highest goals. My therapeutic methodology will be tailored specifically to you. You have your own distinct needs, different from anyone else’s, and, therefore, you deserve your own unique approach that will best suit your personality and your goals. I always seek to deliver the best service possible, and I provide each client with what they need to succeed. I look forward to working with you! I will be here with you every step of the way.
It's normal to feel a bit nervous before your first session. I will do all that I can to help you feel comfortable. It is often helpful to make a list of the issues you'd like to discuss ahead of the session, as I want to make sure to cover what's most important to you. The session will be very casual. We will get to know each other and work together to determine how to proceed based on the information you provide. I look forward to meeting you and helping you reach your goals!
I am passionate about my work and take great care to help each of my clients achieve their own unique goals. I understand that seeking counseling can be a tough decision, but it can also be life-changing. If you are up for the challenge, I'll be right here with you!
Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT) is one of the best methods for the treatment of depression, anxiety, increased stress, panic disorder, overthinking, excessive worrisome thoughts, catastrophic thinking, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and much much more. It's an evidence-based approach with an enormous amount of study to back up its effectiveness. CBT empowers clients to identify, change, & challenge negative patterns, leading to significant shifts in emotional well-being and behavior. I work together with each client to develop an individual plan, consisting of both effective & practical coping strategies and problem-solving skills to manage a wide range of mental health concerns. I make sure to tailor CBT interventions to meet the unique needs of each client, as your needs are different than anyone else’s. Over the years, I have witnessed countless clients experience profound positive changes through the use of CBT, reinforcing my commitment to this proven approach in promoting mental health and well-being.
In addition to CBT, I also utilize Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) as an empowering and successful approach to help clients dramatically decrease depression, anxiety, stress, panic, and symptoms of bipolar disorder. This method allows clients to set critical short and long-term goals, find significant solutions to the problems they are experiencing, and take actionable steps toward meeting their goals. With this treatment method, emphasis on solutions is key, which makes it an effective tool in cutting down on the length of time it takes each client to see significant change. It also allows clients to leave sessions feeling hopeful and empowered with practical tools to handle their mental health concerns. This doesn't mean we don't evaluate and process the issues at hand. We certainly do, but in addition, we develop solutions and actions that work to fix those problems at the same time.
This is an increasingly popular approach because of the incredible success therapists have had in applying it with their patients. Mindfulness based therapy involves techniques that help people become more aware of their thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations in a way that can reduce stress, anxiety, depression, and improve emotional regulation. This type of therapy often includes practices such as breathing exercises, meditation, and mindful awareness which can help people develop a more compassionate and present focused attitude toward their own experiences. I have had the pleasure of using this technique with hundreds of patients and watched them greatly reduce unwanted symptoms, negative patterns, debilitating thought processes and dramatically improve mood and ability to cope more effectively.
