Hello! I work with people who want help finding ways to live a more fulfilling life. As a therapist, I help people recognize their strengths as we work together to overcome difficulties. Almost all of us struggle with many of the same questions. "Am I good enough?" "Why do I feel like I don't matter?" "Will I ever be truly happy when I seem to make the same choices over and over again?" Do you want to manage anxiety? Do you feel depressed? Have you experienced a trauma? Do you find yourself unable to finish projects or find your car keys? Are the kids struggling? Whatever is going wrong, a safe place to talk, knowing your trust will never be compromised, is a wonderful gift you can give yourself. During the first visit, we'll talk about what you want to see happen. Together will come up with a plan. Lasting change is possible. You can create a happy and fulfilling life.

Hi my name is Amy, and I first want to acknowledge how difficult and scary it feels to begin the process of therapy, either for the first time or starting with a new therapist. I take very seriously the enormous strength that takes and I work very hard to ensure that you feel safe and heard as we begin the therapeutic relationship. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 15 years of experience providing counseling in both inpatient and outpatient centers. I received my Master’s degree in counseling in 2008, from Webster University. I had the privilege of working in an inpatient eating disorder facility for five years and have continued that work in outpatient settings. I am an ally to the LGBTQ community and it is important to me that clients find this a safe space. I have a passion for connecting with teenagers, college students and career women to build a safe place with an adult where they can voice their feelings and experiences without fear of judgement. I also especially enjoy working with young adult women as they navigate their way through the process of beginning adulthood. I have experience with a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and general women’s issue. I am especially passionate about working with CPTSD and PTSD. I have received training and supervision in working with trauma as it is a highly specialized field. Trauma survivors need validation, belief, compassion and acceptance first and foremost before a trusting relationship can be established. I have working with women exiting a toxic relationship, having endured narcissistic abuse and/or infidelity (betrayal trauma) which is many times misunderstood by well-intentioned people. My approach is warm, compassionate and highly empathetic as I work to establish a safe environment for healing to take place.

Sometimes life blows up in a way you never saw coming. A relationship ends. Someone lies to you. Trust gets shattered. You lose someone you love. Anxiety starts taking over your brain. Or you wake up one day and realize the life you thought you were building is not the life you actually have. A lot of the people I work with are functioning just fine on the outside while internally thinking, What the hell just happened to my life? They're replaying conversations, second-guessing themselves, trying to make sense of someone else's behavior, wondering whether they missed something, and feeling completely exhausted by their own thoughts. You don't need to show up with a diagnosis or a beautifully organized explanation of what's wrong. You can bring the messy version. I'm not a therapist who is going to sit silently for 50 minutes, nod occasionally, and then ask how that made you feel. I am engaged. I ask questions. I notice patterns. I will tell you what I'm seeing. I will validate what deserves validation, and I will also challenge you when I think you are getting stuck, avoiding something important, or being much harder on yourself than the situation actually calls for. There is room here for grief, anger, confusion, ugly truths, dark humor, bad decisions, overthinking, faith, and the occasional sentence that starts with, "I know this sounds crazy, but..." I work especially well with adults dealing with anxiety, grief, heartbreak, betrayal, complicated relationships, and major life changes. What happened matters. But I do not want the worst thing that happened to you to become the organizing principle for the rest of your life.

Life can become overwhelming when anxiety, depression, past trauma, relationship struggles, or shame begin to affect your confidence, peace, and hope. You do not have to face these challenges alone. Finding the right therapist can be the first step toward meaningful change. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Florida and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in South Carolina specializing in trauma, complex trauma, anxiety, depression, shame, and relationship challenges with adults. For those who desire it, I offer Christian faith integration as part of the counseling process. I understand the importance faith can have in providing strength, identity, and healing. I also welcome clients who prefer a traditional clinical approach, and our work together will always be guided by your personal values and goals. A significant focus of my practice is helping men who feel emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected, burdened by shame, or affected by past experiences, relationship wounds, or trauma. Many people have spent years carrying struggles on their own. Together, we will identify what may be keeping you stuck, develop practical strategies for change, and work toward healthier relationships and greater emotional well-being. My counseling style is practical, structured, and compassionate. I use evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, and other therapeutic methods to help clients manage anxiety, process difficult experiences, change unhealthy patterns, and build skills for long-term growth. I earned my Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of South Florida and have experience working with adults facing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, family conflict, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. Taking the first step toward counseling is not always easy. I have had the opportunity to work in and gain knowledge from a diverse collection of settings that include elementary, middle and high school, hospital chaplaincy department, private practice and private agencies working with families in the child welfare system. Each of these settings has provided me with hands-on experience working with individuals and families in crisis, as well as those who are faced with navigating some of life’s challenges such as divorce, loss, and addiction. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I love a systems approach, understanding that we do not exist in a vacuum, but rather are part of larger systems. If you’ve been thinking about starting therapy, now is a good time to reach out. I currently have immediate availability for new adult clients and offer secure telehealth throughout Michigan and Florida. Maybe you’ve been feeling anxious, overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or stuck in patterns that you can’t seem to change. You may be functioning well on the outside while privately struggling on the inside. You might be overthinking, having difficulty managing your emotions, feeling disconnected, or carrying the effects of experiences that still affect you today. Sometimes you may not even know exactly what you need, you just know that something needs to change. I work with adults (18+) and couples experiencing trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, grief, self-esteem concerns, and life transitions. I also support clients navigating ADHD and other challenges that may be affecting their emotional well-being and everyday life. Opening up to someone you’ve never met can feel uncomfortable, especially when you're already dealing with something difficult. You don't need to come to your first session with everything figured out, and you don't need to know exactly what to say. We can start wherever you are. I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is not to tell you what you should do, but to help you better understand yourself, explore different perspectives, recognize patterns, and work through the things that may be getting in the way of the life or relationships you want.

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, offering both in-person and telehealth therapy. I work with adults who have been carrying a lot for a long time and are realizing it may finally be time to prioritize their own well-being. I specialize in working with trauma survivors, people experiencing depression and anxiety, and individuals in recovery from addiction. My clinical background includes working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns, and people living with chronic mental illness. These experiences have shaped a grounded, trauma-informed approach that respects the complexity of what people have lived through and the ways they learned to survive it. Many of the people I work with feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck in old patterns, or affected by experiences from the past that continue to show up in their relationships and daily lives. Some have spent years putting other people’s needs ahead of their own or simply doing what they needed to do to get through difficult circumstances. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and respectful of your pace. Therapy with me focuses on helping you find relief from emotional pain and anxiety while developing greater self-understanding and a sense of safety that allows deeper healing to occur. Together, we work toward a life that feels steadier, more meaningful, and more authentically your own.
