Welcome, I'm Brian, and I am a Florida licensed mental health counselor. For over ten years, I have worked with clients to explore and resolve depression, anxiety, and relationship conflicts. To do so, I focus on helping my clients identify their strengths and maximize those strengths to overcome obstacles. I also work with my clients to challenge negative automatic thoughts that often drive or maintain personal difficulties. Being in the moment, as well as relaxation, body awareness, and other coping skills have helped my client's to cope with difficult thoughts and feelings while we get to the bottom of the issues. When are ready to begin your journey, I'm ready to help. We can work together to improve your well-being and quality of life.
When we first meet, we will start out with some brief introductions. We will then discuss the problems and challenges that brought you to therapy. After we have explored these issues, we will work together to come up with a plan. To do so, we will include short and long term therapy goals, as well as options and strategies you can use to achieve your goals. My aim is that once you leave our first session, you will have a better understanding of the issues you are facing, and you will have some coping skills or strategies you can use to start making progress towards your goals.
One of my greatest strengths is that I really listen to what my clients are telling me without judgement. As such, I'm very good at putting myself in my client's shoes, and seeing the issues from their perspectives. I have also worked with a wide range of people, from very young children, to adults, and even the elderly. Seeing so many perspectives and issues has granted me insight and wisdom that I use to help my clients to recognize patterns and to make changes in their lives.
Have you been struggling with negative thinking, and felt down, depressed, or even hopeless? Do you often feel nervous, have trouble concentrating, or worry excessively about the future? When you are with your partner, do you feel uneasy, on edge, or like you are moments away from an argument? If so, you are not alone, and I would like to tell you about myself and how I can help.
I have been using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques for the past 10 years. CBT techniques have helped my client's to see how their thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected. Negative or unhelpful thoughts and beliefs are challenged and changed over time. Eventually, this helps my clients to develop a more balanced way of thinking that leads to them making better choices and feeling better.
I have incorporated mindfulness based therapy into my practice for the last 4 years to help my clients to relieve tension, stress, pain, and other negative emotions. The idea behind this approach is that the mind, body, and emotions are all connected. Developing an awareness of this mind-body connection can help to release tension and other difficult emotions. I promote the development of this mind body connection through the use of body awareness exercises, relaxation techniques, and mindfulness meditations.
Over the last 10 years, I have used solution focused techniques to help my clients set clear and well formed therapy goals. We then work together to identify client strengths and maximize those strengths to overcome personal obstacles.
