Our lives are full of obstacles that can prevent us from living life to its fullest. Some obstacles we seem to bring upon ourselves, while others are thrust upon us. Overcoming these obstacles can be difficult and sometimes painful. I offer a safe, non-judgmental therapeutic setting. Together, we explore the specific challenges you are facing which impede your ability to live life to its fullest. I incorporate a variety of therapeutic interventions.
Although I have thoughts, ideas or areas that I believe are important to address, I will take my cues from you, during individual sessions, about what issues are important for you at the time. Clients often leave with a new perspective on dealing with their current challenges and an understanding of how they are connected with their way of dealing with challenges they have faced in the past.
Based upon your individual goals and life experiences, the focus of our work may be solution-based, cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic or interpersonal. Often, a combination of multiple therapeutic approaches is effective.
For over 20 years I have worked with clients in a variety of settings. In private practice, some of the challenges I have helped clients work through include grief, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, family conflicts and difficult child custody proceedings. I have also provided therapy for clients facing the daily challenges of living with a variety of mental disorders. I also have experience with families who face the stress and emotional challenges of caring for loved ones with physical, behavioral, and intellectual disabilities, including autism.
