Hello, my name is Arlene and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) I have been providing counseling for about 33 years. I have experience working in various areas of counseling settings and have provided counseling for diverse populations that include different ages, genders, and diverse racial, cultural, and LGBTQ backgrounds. Through the years I have obtained knowledge with concerns including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, family/parenting difficulties as well as childhood, adolescent, and young adult adjustments. In recent years I have been trained to work with individuals who have experienced traumatic events. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps toward change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you. Please feel free to schedule an intake via phone or email: 786-244-7711 or intake+Arlene19333@growtherapy.com I look forward to working with you!
My first session with clients start with a pleasant introduction and then I will ask the clients what brought them to therapy. My sessions in general are warm and informal; however, goal directed. I encourage self-growth and a healthy lifestyle.
One of my strengths is my broad range of experience in mental health in different settings. I have worked with clientele with various mental health and substance abuse conditions, in hospitals, rehabilitation programs, psychiatric emergency rooms, and legal systems.
I would prefer to work with adults from 18 and beyond with varied mental health concerns and diverse in racial, cultural, and LGBTQ backgrounds.
I was initially trained in Psychodynamic and Ego Psychology disciplines. However, in the past few years I have been certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as Trauma Focused Behavioral Therapy. I find the CBT is a practical treatment technique that helps the individuals how to address thoughts, emotions and behaviors. I also find that CBT is a clinical tool that can be easily implemented outside therapy sessions and in every day life.
