Hi! I'm Femina Patel, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I believe that the best way to empower individuals is through counseling. I specialize in providing counseling services to individuals and families. My goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. I have much experience in helping individuals improve their mental health. I have worked within many community mental health agency settings and am familiar with clients that have a range of diagnoses from anxiety/depression to SPMI(Serious and persistent mental illness). I believe in creating a safe and supportive environment for my clients to share their thoughts and feelings so they can discover their strengths and learn the skills necessary to overcome their challenges. Generally in session, you can expect to experience mindfulness, increased self awareness, and practical solution-focused discussion – with a touch of humor. I can help you to find meaning even during the most challenging times. You will find conversation is comfortable and easy. On Day 1 we will: 1) Discuss your goals for seeking counseling. 2) Gather a brief history of your current situation. 3) Create an individual treatment plan.
I enjoy working with clients of all ages from various backgrounds. However, I have specialized training in working with teens, families, adults. I have worked within many community mental health agency settings and am familiar with the school system, IEPs, 504 plans, and resources for alternatives within the community. I am also certified in Adoptions Competency and love working with families facing post-adoption challenges.

I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help my clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through this process, clients learn to recognize unhelpful thinking patterns and develop practical tools for managing stress, anxiety, and mood challenges. My approach to CBT is collaborative and tailored to each person’s unique experiences and goals. I aim to create a supportive space where clients feel empowered to challenge limiting beliefs, make meaningful changes, and build lasting emotional resilience.
I integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients cultivate greater psychological flexibility and live in alignment with their values. ACT focuses on learning to accept difficult emotions and thoughts rather than struggling against them, while taking meaningful action toward a more fulfilling life. In our work together, I guide clients in developing mindfulness skills, strengthening self-compassion, and identifying what truly matters to them. This approach supports clients in moving through life’s challenges with openness, resilience, and a deeper sense of purpose.
I approach therapy through a culturally sensitive and inclusive lens, recognizing that each client’s background, identity, and lived experiences shape how they view themselves and the world. I strive to create a space where clients feel seen, respected, and understood in all aspects of who they are. This means honoring cultural values, family systems, and intersectional identities while exploring how these factors influence emotions, relationships, and coping styles. My goal is to collaborate with clients in a way that affirms their experiences and supports healing that feels authentic and empowering.
I incorporate principles of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients develop balance between acceptance and change. DBT focuses on building skills in four key areas—mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness—to support clients in managing intense emotions and improving relationships. In therapy, I emphasize practical tools and real-world application, helping clients strengthen self-awareness and navigate challenges with greater calm and clarity. My goal is to help clients create a life that feels more stable, meaningful, and aligned with their values.
I draw from Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) to help clients explore how their relationships and communication patterns impact their emotional well-being. This approach focuses on improving relationship dynamics, strengthening social support, and addressing life transitions or unresolved grief that may contribute to distress. Together, we work to enhance self-awareness, develop healthier ways of relating to others, and build confidence in expressing needs and boundaries. My goal is to help clients experience more fulfilling and balanced connections in their personal and professional lives.

I've been going to Femina for a while now, and she's been such a blessing. She's very kind, thoughtful, insightful, and pushes me to reflect without forcing anything. She's made therapy a great experience and I've learned a lot about myself through our sessions. I'd highly recommend her to anyone looking for a therapist, she's the best!
