New to Grow
I am a solution focused, clinical social worker who seeks to help my clients restore balance within themselves and their environment. Establishing realistic goals helps to pave the journey we take together between client and therapist. It is inevitable for life to provide some type of challenge and I am here to help my clients navigate their struggles utilizing a variety of coping skills developed during our sessions. My career path began with child welfare case management, transitioned into clinical work in substance abuse counseling, experienced with family focused counseling, medical social work, and individual outpatient therapy with military experience.
During your first session, we will spend time getting to know each other. I will orient you to the therapy process if this is your first journey with therapy. We will discuss what made you decide to start therapy and past issues that have led up to this moment. We will also begin discussing and establishing a goal for treatment and I will offer pathways to achieve your goals. The first session is a good time for you to ask me questions that you may have to determine if I am a good fit to help you along your path to healing.
I provide a warm and compassionate environment to promote a space for healing and individual growth. I work with all ages from young children to older adults. I believe that active listening, empathy and validation in a solution focused session provides a positive foundation for effective change.
I am a solution focused therapist that believes in establishing strong boundaries which empowers clients to live to their best potential. I have worked with children, families and individuals in an outpatient mental health setting.
I like to help clients understand how their thoughts are connected to their emotions and behaviors. This method allows clients to understand where they can intervene to improve their mood and emotions experiences.
I use EMDR with clients who have experienced trauma. EMDR allows individuals to reduce their body's sensitivity to trauma triggers and aids in healing from past trauma.
CPT is used with clients who have experienced trauma and find themselves with negative thought processes that keep them stuck in their trauma.
DBT provides multiple skills to manage intense emotions that are causing disturbance in a client's life. I use this modality to teach skills for emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
Sometimes clients need to feel supported because they have no other option for support. Supportive therapy is used for just that.
