My name is Sergena and I'm so grateful to be part of your healing journey. In my work as a social worker, I have traveled all over the United States providing services to individuals and systems in need. My therapeutic style is largely eclectic, meaning I use different styles depending on who my client is and what their concerns are. I am trained in TF-CBT, ACT, CBT, and am presently studying Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. My primary focus is trauma, though I also work closely with those with co-occuring substance use disorders and mood disorders.
I listen and try to understand your situation and learn what it's like to be you. I can offer suggestions but I won't tell you what to do. I believe that my clients know what they need to do to help them heal, it might not be clear right away but after I am able to understand your problems we can work together to find solutions.
It's a big step to seek counseling and to go into therapy. I respect everyone who wants to improve their mental health and well being. It isn't easy to seek help and allow oneself to be vulnerable and share ones' experience. I have listened to thousands of people and I am delighted hear everyone's story to see how I can help.
Hello!
I’m Aida Valerio.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who found my calling 11 years ago having discovered that I wanted to provide people with a therapeutic space to heal, grow, and ultimately transform.
Are you going through a personal challenge or major life transition? Do you need a safe space to have your experiences affirmed and validated? Do you feel overwhelmed by your emotions and in need of support? Have you considered speaking to someone but are unsure of how to begin?
Wherever you are in your journey, I want to congratulate you on exploring possibilities to receive help. Therapy, like anything new or unknown, can feel scary. When Wendy was learning how to fly in Peter Pan, her fear of “what if I fall?” was met with Peter’s response of “oh, darling, what if you fly?” Not only did she fly, but she also transformed.
My therapeutic approach is gentle, warm, and trauma-informed to ensure your comfort every step of the way. I listen attentively and non-judgmentally, welcoming your authentic self. You can express yourself in English and/or Spanish as I am fluent in both languages.

Throughout my career and personal life, I have discovered that my heart is centered in working with young adults navigating career choices, the anxiety of the transition to adulthood and building healthy relationships; as well as guiding parents through the challenges of parenthood, pregnancy and postpartum.
My experience as a school counselor for 6 years was the foundation for my love of young adulthood and the challenges faced in those times that aren’t spoken of enough. Now, as a mom of two young children I found a second passion of supporting individuals through parenthood, pregnancy and postpartum.
I have found the most success for my clients utilizing cognitive-behavior therapy, mindfulness and meditation. These techniques increase gentleness, grounding, and relaxation. We often find ourselves needing a reminder to remain present in the moment as life around us moves so quickly. Combining these practices with learning to maintain positive thoughts and supporting stress management will be groundbreaking for your self development.
I am so excited to meet you and begin your growth journey today.
