Tiffany Fernandes
Hello, my name is Tiffany! I am a licensed clinical social worker specializing in providing evidence-based therapy approaches to help individuals overcome anxiety, depression, and develop effective coping skills.
I aim to empower individuals to build resilience, enhance self-awareness, and develop practical strategies to navigate life's challenges with confidence and clarity.
I have over 5 years of experience supporting clients across various levels of care, from residential and inpatient treatment, to outpatient group therapy. I believe therapy should meet you where you are, without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out. Everyone’s journey is different, and I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable showing up as your authentic self. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, navigating a life transition, or simply looking to better understand yourself, we’ll work together at a pace that feels right for you. My goal is to support you in building on your strengths, exploring your experiences, and finding tools that align with your needs and goals.
First session
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other in a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free space. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you hope to gain from our work together. We’ll explore your strengths, challenges, and goals, and begin to identify what support might be most helpful for you. Therapy is a collaborative process, so your thoughts, needs, and preferences will guide our work together. You’ll have space to share at your own pace, ask questions, and express yourself openly. My goal is for you to feel heard, understood, and supported as we begin this journey together. You don’t need to have everything figured out before your first session. We’ll take things one step at a time, working toward greater understanding, healing, and growth.
Strengths
I believe in the power of therapy to facilitate positive change and growth. By integrating cognitive, behavioral, and person-centered approaches, I aim to empower individuals to build resilience, enhance self-awareness, and develop practical strategies to navigate life's challenges with confidence and clarity.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with individuals who are ready to make meaningful changes in their lives, even if they’re not quite sure where to begin. Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. Many of my clients want to grow and feel better but may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or anxious about life’s challenges. Together, we’ll work to better understand these struggles, build practical tools, and help you feel more confident in moving forward.
Treatment methods
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
My experience utilizing a DBT framework has been both with individuals and in a group therapy setting. My work with group therapy has been centered in providing education and skills coaching on interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness strategies. My work with individuals has been in helping clients to gain control over their emotions and behaviors in order to build a life worth living.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
In my work with individuals in therapy, the use of CBT has been effective with challenging negative thought patterns and behaviors that may be contributing to distress in their life. Challenging these unhelpful thought patterns can be highly effective for coping with and decreasing anxiety and depression as well as improving overall wellbeing.
