I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Illinois and North Carolina with 30 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, coping with grief and loss, motivation, self esteem and confidence, & depression. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together we will make introductions, I will ask you about the main reason bringing you to therapy, and answer any questions that you may have. I will also spend some time getting to know you and asking some basic assessment questions. We will then talk about the plans with other sessions and what we want to put into place for some goals for treatment

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have experience working mostly with adults. I have had the pleasure of working with older adults as well (age 65 and up) and helping to work through the different stages of life. I feel that with my many years of experience that I am able to provide empathy, supportive listening, and meeting with where the person is at in therapy. I take things at the pace that clients want to set.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

As a dedicated therapist with 30 years of experience, I have focused my practice on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for the past five years. Clients have found CBT to be an effective approach for managing anxiety, stress, and depression, enabling them to develop practical strategies for overcoming challenges. I utilize CBT techniques to help clients identify and reframe negative thought patterns. This evidence-based approach empowers individuals to take control of their mental health and fosters resilience in the face of adversity.

Grief Therapy

Grief therapy can involve various treatment methods tailored to individual needs. I utilize several different treatments that can be very useful; CBT, Narrative therapy, and Mindfulness. I have experience working with Hospice and assisted clients with end of life issues for both the client on hospice services along with their friends and family.

Supportive

I believe that starting therapy can be challenging and anxiety provoking. I believe that it is important to provide supportive therapy to meet clients where they are at in the therapy process. I assist in building on strengths while offering support. With my utilizing Supportive counseling, I believe it provides a safe space for clients to explore their feelings and thoughts without judgment. I use active listening, empathy, and validation
