Hi, I'm Mysty. Are you struggling with emotions that you don't know what to do with? Are you stuck in thought processes that are unhelpful, yet you are not sure how to change them? Do you want to learn how to regulate emotion, reduce stress, improve relationships, improve communication, reduce unwanted emotion, and feel comfortable in your own body? These are just a few of the things that I work with clients on, and I can work with you as well. I believe we are all humans doing the best that we can, and sometimes the best thing we can do is ask for help. I work mostly with anxiety, depression, panic, trauma, grief, and stress, although there are many additional stressors and diagnoses that I have been successful at helping clients with. If we work together, we will set goals and I will help you find ways to achieve them using new skills and shifting perspectives. The most important part of working with clients is understanding this is your journey. I'm not here to judge or tell you what to do, I am here to listen and help you gain perspective, make adjustments, learn about yourself, and find practical ways to implement the change you are looking for. I look forward to meeting you and helping you on your journey.

**ACCEPTING ADULTS (18+) ONLY** Hi, I'm Yang. And I'm here to help you heal from self-abandonment and emotional dysregulation. Self-abandonment occurs when we struggle to stand up for our needs and live by our authentic values; often, we don't even know what they are. Those who struggle with self-abandonment don't feel like they know who they really are, and what they want, and often feel directionless and ungrounded. We feel small, afraid, anxious, aggressive and dependent on others. Emotional dysregulation occurs when we don't understand our emotions and how to manage them. They control us, instead of the other way around. We behave in ways we wish we didn't, and we build up shame around those behaviors as if they are who we are. We cannot separate our emotions from who we are. These issues often lie at the heart of different mental health struggles, such as depression, anxiety, as well as many relationship challenges. The good news is that resolving these, therefore, can potentially lead to ripple effects of change in your life.

I utilize a positive theoretical orientation which assumes that all individuals possess an innate desire for well-balanced emotional/mental health. I believe a person enters therapy with a strong wish, whether conscious or unconscious, to overcome obstacles and free themselves from constraints that are holding them back. I find that everyone needs a slightly different approach to accomplish these goals, so I adjust in technique for each specific challenge. I truly enjoy the experience of guiding my clients through this process and consider it a privilege to play such an important role in a person's life. “Crying does not indicate that you are weak. Are you under a heavy load of anxiety or depression that you just can’t seem to shake? Have you stayed stuck in the past for too long and need help letting go? I'm here, not as a "know it all" but as a partner and guide on your journey to a more balanced and centered life. I’m a published author and licensed psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience working with individuals in all demographics and range of issues. For me, therapy is a process that takes creativity to explore our complexities in a way that allows room for humor and joy in the midst of self discovery. In fact, after earning my degree in Psychology from esteemed Spelman College, I took a detour and spent time in the music industry! I completed my graduate studies at UCLA and all of this knowledge was greatly enhanced after, when I worked in one of the busiest clinics in Los Angeles for close to 10 years. I’m so happy that you’re taking this step to rediscovering yourself. Hello there! I'm so happy you found me. Do you feel stressed out and unable to manage everything? Are your relationships draining you? Do you need better time management? Do you wonder how other people seem to have it all together? Do you struggle to get up in the morning or have trouble sleeping at night? If you answered yes to any of these questions, together we can identify what is and isn't working in your life and work on getting things back in balance. I have years of experience in the mental health field and understand that everyone gets off track at some point in their life. Through the use of cognitive behavioral therapy, strengths-based modalities, mindfulness and self-reflection techniques we can work to create a life that is balanced and where you are not only surviving but thriving.

Hello. my name is Diane Gibbs and i have been a licensed clinical social worker since 2008. I have worked inpatient and outpatient mental health. I am Rogerian trained, which means i have awareness of my boundaries and the clts boundaries. I am clt centered, being aware of my transference in the therapy relationship; often using the transference for clt growth. I am humanistic, which means any one of us can experience disturbance of mood, thought, or emotion; simply because we are human. As a clt centered therapist my role is to hold a mirror up as to allow the clt to witness their experience and offer reccomendations for tx plan. Also, empowering the clt to connect and use their strengths; support, spirituality or agnostic beliefs. I have used various modality interventions including meditation, visualization, and exposure acclimation. I have worked with 5 yo to 80+ yr old. My experience is broad, from post partum to end of life issues and many life stages in between. Whether its anxiety or depression. From bipolar to ocd or schizophrenia; i work at creating a safe environment where boundaries are clear and the clt feels free to discuss their issues in safety and privacy.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take UnitedHealthcare StudentResources?

Yes! If you use UnitedHealthcare StudentResources you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have UnitedHealthcare StudentResources you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
