Hello, My name is Thalia Diaz, and I'm thrilled to have been connected with you! As a therapist, I strive to create a warm, caring, and non-judgmental space to work with clients. I am aware that the times in which talk-therapy is sought out are also the times in which life feels overwhelming. Whatever that struggle may be, I believe that the human spirit is strong and capable of healing. I am passionate about working alongside my clients to heal those wounds and setting them up to be able to reach the goals they've set for their futures. Though I have experience working with a wide range of people, my passion is to help young adults who struggle with trauma, depression, grief, and/or anxiety to process their life stories, strengthen their sense of identity, and develop the skills needed for the life they desire.
During the intake session, we’ll discuss your personal background, reasons for seeking therapy, and any mental health concerns you may have. I'll explain confidentiality, the therapy process, and answer any questions you might have about how sessions work. You may also fill out brief assessments to help me understand your needs better. By the end of the session, we’ll outline a plan for your treatment and discuss the next steps, including scheduling follow-up sessions.
My approach is strengths-based and uses a combination of several theories including, Adlerian, CBT, solution-focused, and internal family systems. Though talk-therapy is at the root of what I do, I know that there are some things that for some reason or another cannot be put into words. Because of this I enjoy incorporating art, movement, and play into therapy sessions whenever my clients are comfortable with it.
My strengths are working with young adults who have been hurt by those they loved. Regardless of that pain being intentional or unintentional, recent or historical, big or small, that pain deserves healing. I am also a therapist that is culturally competent, and understands that each family system is unique. I have over 5 years of experience working with adolescents and young adults who have experienced various traumas and are ready to process it and work towards living the life they want.
I specialize in helping clients who are struggling with life transitions, depression, or anxiety. Many people who have experienced childhood trauma or adversity develop survival skills that helped them cope at the time but now keep them stuck in unhelpful thought or behavior patterns. I work well with clients who are ready to challenge these patterns and develop healthier ways to cope and thrive moving forward.
