If you struggle with anxious attachment, people pleasing, setting boundaries, feeling triggered, anger, anxiety, depression, co-dependence, parenting issues, and ADD/ ADHD, then I want to work with you. These symptoms and attachment style are often related to each other and often related to similar childhood experiences of inconstant or abusive/neglectful caregivers. (ADD and ADHD is not cause by caregivers, however, when it goes undiagnosed in children, there is s strong correlation to symptoms described above)

I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Ph.D. candidate in Depth Psychology with a focus on integrative healing practices. Over the past nine years, I’ve supported individuals and families across diverse clinical settings, including schools, private practice, and NGOs globally. My work centers on helping clients reconnect with their authentic Self by gently exploring the uncharted terrain of the inner world. Hello! I’m Brenda De Monge, a passionate Marriage and Family Therapist with over 21 years of experience in community mental health. Helping and supporting youth, parents, & individuals from various cultures & socio-economic backgrounds affected by trauma. When working with trauma, sexual, physical, emotional, and domestic violence, my number one priority is safety & meeting my clients where they are, by supporting them & reaching their goals. I use these treatment methods: • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). In my practice, I have used CBT to help clients challenge recurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. CBT is effective in understanding how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact with one another. We can implement this in therapy to help you live a less anxious and stressful life. • Trauma-Focused CBT is a short-term therapy designed for children ages 3-18 who have experienced various types of traumas, including physical, emotional, & sexual abuse. When working with young children, the parents/caregivers are key, as they provide ongoing support. By attending sessions, parents will gain a deeper understanding of the root causes of the issues. Over the past 20 years, I have worked with families using this model, & it has been helpful to them. • Seeking Safety is a treatment approach I have used with clients for more than 15 years. It assists individuals dealing with trauma & addiction by emphasizing safety and coping skills. • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) has proven to be a helpful approach in easing obsessive thoughts, reducing intrusive memories, & empowering clients to stay calm while learning ways to handle future challenges and symptoms. Since 2019, I’ve supported children, teens, & adults in managing their post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, & panic disorder through EMDR. In addition, I’ve helped clients with war-related trauma & child sexual assault.

You’re the caretaker or the high achiever—the one who always finds a way to make things work. On the outside, it may look like you’re doing everything “right,” but inside you feel anxious, disconnected, or simply exhausted. If you’re wondering how much longer you can keep it all together, you’re not alone. Finding a steady, supportive therapist can be the first step toward feeling like yourself again. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I work with women who are struggling with burnout, perfectionism, anxiety or depression. Many of my clients feel stuck in patterns of overthinking, people pleasing, or putting others first. Together, we look at what’s working in your life and what may be keeping you feeling overwhelmed or drained. From there, we create realistic goals that help you build confidence, set healthy boundaries, and bring more peace back into your daily routine. Clients can expect through the process to create stronger boundaries, improve mood, and increase clarity with themselves and the way they see the world. I am licensed in both CA & TX, and love to see clients remotely for virtual sessions. In addition to my clinical experience, I also have a background in world religious studies, have a passion for all things creative, and love seeing clients from various cultural backgrounds, LGBTQ+, college students, recent grads, working moms, and young professionals. I have been a therapist for over 30 years and have worked with clients on a myriad of issues including anxiety, depression, postpartum depression, perinatal loss and other women’s issues. My work has also included working with folks on life transitions whether it be family or career related, as these can create much stress for people. I have worked in Connecticut, Florida and Texas, both as a clinical leader and practicing clinician. I am currently licensed in Connecticut, California and Texas. My training was at the Columbia School of Social Work where I received my masters degree. I truly look forward to the opportunity of working together and hope we will talk soon. You are not alone.

After earning my undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley, I spent a number of years traveling the world and then went on to earn two Master’s degrees, the second in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have been working as a therapist for close to seven years, but have worked as a counselor with children, adolescents, and families for over 15 years. I built my own academic counseling business after my first graduate school, in which I fostered relationships with families and the community. This experience working closely with hundreds of local families gave me great insight into the power of supportive, goal oriented, client centered, positive relationships as catalysts for change in individuals and relational systems. I approach my clients with the belief that they are capable and valuable, and that with my support in identifying their strengths and resources, both internal and external, they can gain skills and achieve goals that can instill a sense of hope which enables them to move forward successfully. I have spent a great deal of time traveling, living, and working in diverse parts of the world, and I believe my own experiences coupled with my genuine positive regard for people has cultivated a broad perspective of understanding that contributes to my success as a therapist.
