Hello! My name is Marcellus. Do you find that you get "stuck" along your life's journey and could use a little support making your way? Do your relationships with others or yourself, past or present, get in the way or create barriers for you? The spaces and places we find ourselves in along life's journey can be distressing, problematic, and/or harmful. Being able to navigate those areas of life in an adaptive way can be beneficial to our well-being. I compare therapy to a car's navigation system, you know the destination and have to do the driving and the therapist offers routes and options for you to take. Working together, you can reach your destination safely and at your own pace.

Congratulations for taking the step to seek counseling. The world we live in is increasingly complex, and we can find ourselves feeling disconnected, stressed, and uncertain about what direction to take. How do we identify solutions for our life’s challenges? How do we let go of stress and sleep at night? As a therapist, I have counseled with individuals and families for over ten years and have found that problem-solving does not have to be stressful, and that we can work through our toughest issues. It is common to believe that people in our relationships, or circumstances in our lives cause us to feel the way we do. But it is our thinking, and the way we relate to people and circumstances, that create our feelings and emotions. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps us observe what we are feeling and identify the thoughts that create our feelings. With increased self-awareness, we determine which of our thoughts and perceptions are distorted and unhelpful. As our thinking becomes more realistic, we feel better. There are several therapy methods that are effective in creating positive change, including Narrative Therapy, Goal Setting, Visioning for Personal Growth, and Mindfulness to promote focus and attention. Let’s engage in a conversation to explore your individual needs, and how best to meet them.

For the past nine years I’ve helped clients untangle anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, and relationship pain points so they can return to feeling like themselves again—or discover an even healthier version. My style is warm, personable, and a bit quirky; clients describe our sessions as equal parts safe space and springboard for change. I weave evidence-based tools—Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, strength-based work, and, when requested, Christian counseling—into practical “between-session” exercises that turn insight into daily life skills. Whether you’re navigating a major life transition, rebuilding boundaries, or simply tired of feeling stuck, my goal is to partner with you in finding realistic solutions and sustainable hope.

My hope is to be able to help others navigate life's obstacles with an authentic and nonjudgmental approach. I specialized in Trauma while earning my degree and have helped many individuals, couples, and families work through and overcome the aftermath of traumatic events. I also have several years of experience helping people struggling with anxiety and depression. One of the most important aspects of the therapeutic healing process is the connection between the client and therapist, so I encourage authentic communication if you do not feel we are a good fit as it can be an example of advocating for yourself in a powerful way.

Hi! I’m Rishika Syal, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor based in California. I earned my Master of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University in Maryland in 2019. My goal is to create a supportive and practical space where clients feel heard and empowered. I focus on helping you develop tools that are not only useful in session but also applicable to your everyday life. If you’re ready to begin your journey toward healing and personal growth, I’d be honored to support you.
