New to Grow
Hi, my name is Bjorn! I strive to help individuals overcome obstacles to a healthier life by creating a safe, supportive therapeutic relationship that feels non-judgmental no matter the situation or challenges they are up against. My goals is to meet you where you are at and help create a treatment strategy and environment that will most benefit exploring and identifying what your needs are and how to get them met.
In the first session we will not only go over basic protocols of therapy, but also identify and clarify what you concerns, needs and goals are in order to create an initial approach to treatment. This is also an important time where you will get to know how I interact with clients and to begin establishing a healthy, therapeutic relationship. My goals in the first session is for you to feel supportive and more confident that you can move in the direction of health and achieve your goals.
I think as a result of both my own life experiences and personality type my approach creates a unique space for the client to explore areas of their life that need attention, while encouraging them with questions to discover new insights into their situation. One element of my approach that I have found helpful in therapy is my sense of humor and ability to get clients to see their problems in a new light that feels more manageable to work with.
My ideal clients are adults who are working on specific issues or life transitions. This client is ideally motivated to understand or learn new ways to deal with their situation. I enjoy working with clients who are curious and open to change. Sometimes our situation can be difficult so It is important to have the right attitude or at least be open to the possibility of change and approaching challenges in a new way.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize CBT to help clients understand and challenge limiting beliefs and behaviors which can create the changes they desire. By investigating our patterns of thought and behavior we are better equipped to make the necessary changes to affect outcomes.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
The implementation of mindfulness practices in my client's life helps to raise awareness and this is helpful to bring behavioral patterns from the unconscious level to the conscious level where they are more able to take new actions in their life. Mindfulness practice is also a great way to reduce stress and help find more balance in body and mind.
