Hello,
I was born and raised in Stockton, California. I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 and in 1997, after 25 yeas of service, I retired from the Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Marine Corps, I worked as a Farrier (Horseshoer), as well as a structural welder (Ironworker), as those were the most marketable skill that I had. I came to a point where old injuries came back to haunt me and I could no longer walk (several years later, thanks to a surgery through the VA, I can walk again; thankful for that).
At this point, I changed professions and out of a desire to work with veterans, I returned to school, accomplishing all that was necessary to become a licensed counselor. I spent another career working for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically as a counselor in the Readjustment Counseling Service (Vet Center). I recently retired from the Vet Center and now I work part-time here with Grow Therapy.
As a retired Marine senior staff Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) and disabled combat veteran myself, the Vet Center was the perfect job. Vet Centers provide readjustment counseling to combat veterans and provide counseling to survivors of military sexual trauma (MST). Vet Centers also provide group counseling, bereavement counseling and couples counseling when this is determined to be of support to the veteran.
Readjustment counseling many times consists of treating/addressing symptoms related to post-traumatic stress (PTSD), I.e., anxiety, depression, exaggerated startle response, hypervigilance, sleep disturbance, etc. Many veterans go on to work as first responders and working with many first responders as well as medical personal, has provided me with a great deal of additional experience.

Over human history, people have mostly lived in close-knit communities. This has eroded with the advances in transportation and technology. Most people have lost much of the social support our forebearers enjoyed. Mental Health Professionals have taken on this role in their respective communities and are an excellent resource for you to realize your strengths and improve your well-being. When your car breaks down you take it to a mechanic. When your tooth hurts you see a dentist. When your mental health can use a “tune-up,” see a Mental Health Professional!

In today's fast-paced world, many people find themselves overwhelmed by daily responsibilities and disconnected from what brings meaning and fulfillment to their lives. My approach is direct yet empathic, collaborative, and solution-focused, while remaining grounded in genuine compassion and practical feedback. Hello! I’m a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) with over six years of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families through a variety of mental health challenges and life transitions. Before becoming a therapist, I also worked directly in healthcare, an experience that shaped my understanding of the importance of empathy, compassion, and meeting people where they are.
I grew up in Southern California and am a first-generation Filipino American. My background has helped me appreciate the importance of culture, family, identity, and the different experiences that shape who we are. I’m naturally curious and genuinely enjoy learning about different cultures, especially through their food and languages.
Outside of work, I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes, traveling, attending concerts, and spending time with my husband and senior dog (She's a Pomeranian). I believe curiosity is an important part of both life and therapy—it allows us to slow down, ask questions, and better understand ourselves and others.
It's not magic. And you don't need years of therapy to experience sustainable positive change. You need focus, depth, and a structured approach discovered and developed to help you get it. That's why I specialize in treatment based on the powerful neuroscience of deep learning to rapidly uncover and resolve the root causes of the inevitable problems and patterns that appear in our lives.
