Hi, my name is Madeleine (Maddie) Kelly. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Orange County, California with over 13 years experience helping adult individuals from all walks of life navigate life's various challenges as a collaborative therapeutic team. Growing up, I experienced a variety of personal struggles with my own mental health, which inspired me to seek an education in clinical psychology. I provide culturally informed and identity-conscious care to adults and offer a safe space that is non-judgmental, compassionate and empathetic. Are you experiencing a recent life transition that causes you stress, anxiety, or depression? (e.g. moving, school, job, breakups, marriage, family changes, kids, coming out) Are you ready to begin healing from childhood traumas and learn ways to develop a healthier relationship with yourself and others? Let's collaborate on prioritizing self-care and moving with more motivation, energy, and purpose. Are you struggling with various life stressors and want to learn healthier means of self-care? Are you having conflicts with family, coworkers, or friends? Let's collaborate to set healthy boundaries, learn to accept reality as it is, and take control of the choices that align with your values and goals. These are just a few of the many ways I can support you. I will sit with you through painful emotions and help you write a new story with more self compassion, self worth, and love. Whatever place you are in your journey of growth and self-healing, I will be present and ready to go to work with you. I look forward to being your supporter, mentor, ally, and coach. We will learn, grow, and celebrate every small and big step toward living a more authentic, meaningful, and healthy life together as a team. Moving forward, you are never alone in this journey.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, I will introduce myself and discuss what you can expect from the therapy process moving forward. We will use the time to begin to get to know each other and establish a strong therapeutic relationship rooted in compassion, safety, and trust. Please feel free to ask any questions and express concerns at any point during session that will help you feel more comfortable moving forward as you get to know me. I will invite you to share any background information about yourself that you feel comfortable sharing. I will also offer you the space to share what challenges you're currently facing. From there, we will discuss what you're hoping to get out of therapy and how I can best help and support you moving forward. We will then work as a team to begin to establish a healthy treatment plan and realistic therapy goals to best fit your unique needs. At the end of the appointment, you will have the opportunity to reflect on the session and share your thoughts about moving forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I'm passionate about helping adults discover their true selves, develop self-worth, and learn healthy ways to cope and grow as individuals. During each session, I strive to be authentic and create a safe space that supports adults wholeheartedly and helps them feel empowered. My communication style and demeanor are rooted in confidence and patience. Each session you will be met in an accepting, non-judgmental and collaborative manner. I strive to create an environment where you feel genuinely heard, respected, understood and safe to share opening without fear or judgement.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with adults of all ages and backgrounds who are exploring their identities, and need support with navigating the pressures of college, work, friendships, relationships, and family expectations. I work with a wide array of diagnoses including, but not limited to, ADHD, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and trauma related disorders. My clients are eager to improve, but need the space to process their thoughts and feeling in a non-judgmental and caring environment. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed, and anxious about what is going on in their life and need support from somewhere who genuinely cares and wants to help them grow.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT works by first building a strong therapeutic alliance/relationship. From there, implementing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) involves a structured, collaborative approach focusing on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Key steps include setting goal-oriented agendas, psychoeducation, identifying cognitive distortions, and assigning homework (e.g., thought logs) to reframe negative thinking and change behaviors.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is a therapy designed to help individuals be more mindful, tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and improve interpersonal relationships. It aims to balance accepting reality with changing unhelpful behaviors. The therapy is structured around four main components: Mindfulness, Distress tolerance, Emotional regulation, and Interpersonal effectiveness.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma-informed care is an approach to services that recognizes the widespread impact of trauma and integrates this knowledge into policies, procedures, and practices. The goal is to avoid re-traumatization and to provide a safe and supportive environment for recovery.
