About me

I’m Chigolum (Chigo), a licensed clinical social worker who provides a supportive, nonjudgmental space for clients to explore challenges and build healthier coping skills. I work with individuals and families using practical, strengths-based approaches to help clients feel more grounded, confident, and empowered. My goal is to meet clients where they are and support meaningful, lasting change at their own pace.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know each other and talking about what brings you to therapy. I’ll ask questions about your goals, current challenges, and what you’re hoping to get out of our work together, at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You can expect a supportive, judgment-free space where we begin building trust and identifying next steps that feel realistic and helpful.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to combine practical, evidence-based approaches with a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental style. I’m skilled at helping clients identify their strengths, build coping skills, and take actionable steps toward their goals, while also honoring their emotions and experiences. My experience working with a wide range of clients. I've worked wiith individuals navigating anxiety, depression, and grief to families managing conflict. It gives me a flexible, empathetic approach that meets each person where they are.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with clients who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward, but are open to self-reflection and change. You might be struggling with anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, grief, or self-esteem, and want practical tools alongside emotional support. Many of my clients are motivated to better understand themselves, build healthier boundaries, and develop coping skills that actually fit their lives.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and how those patterns may be contributing to distress. In my practice, I work with clients to identify unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge them in a supportive way, and develop healthier coping strategies. I use CBT in a practical, collaborative way to help clients feel more in control and better equipped to manage everyday challenges.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use solution-focused brief therapy to help clients focus on what’s working and what they want to be different, rather than spending too much time on the problem itself. In my practice, I collaborate with clients to set clear, realistic goals, highlight strengths and past successes, and use small, achievable steps to create meaningful change. This approach helps clients feel empowered and build momentum toward their goals.

Strength-Based

I use a strengths-based approach to help clients recognize what they’re already doing well and build on their existing skills, values, and resilience. In my practice, I focus on identifying strengths, past successes, and supports, especially during times when clients feel stuck or discouraged. This approach helps clients feel more empowered, hopeful, and confident as they work toward their goals.

Family Therapy

I use family therapy to help families better understand each other, improve communication, and work through conflict in a more supportive way. In my practice, I focus on family dynamics, boundaries, and patterns that may be keeping families stuck, while helping each member feel heard and respected. I aim to create a collaborative space where families can strengthen relationships and develop healthier ways of relating to one another.

Grief Therapy

In my practice, I use grief therapy to help clients make sense of their loss at their own pace and in a way that feels right for them. I focus on creating a safe space to process difficult emotions, normalize the ups and downs of grief, and gently support clients as they adjust to life after loss. My approach is flexible, compassionate, and centered on helping clients find meaning and stability while honoring what they’ve lost.
