I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that something isn't OK right now. That something might be new, or it might have been around a long time. You might be able to describe it perfectly, or you might just feel off without knowing why. Either way — you're here, and that's the only thing that matters right now. I start from wherever you are. No assumptions, no judgments, no one-size-fits-all approach. Just a genuine desire to understand you — what's brought you here, what you're carrying, and what you're hoping for. Therapy with me — whether you're coming alone or with a partner — tends to be honest and occasionally even a little lighthearted. The human experience isn't black and white, and neither is the work we'll do together. What stays consistent is that you'll have a space that belongs to you, where nothing you say or feel changes how I show up for you. For couples, that space belongs to both of you equally. I don't take sides. What I do is help you see the pattern you're both caught in — because most of the time it's the cycle doing the damage, not each other. When that shifts, something else becomes possible. No matter what it is you are navigating — depression, relationships, identity, or the gap between how you show up and how you actually feel inside — you don't have to have it figured out to reach out.

I have a special place in my work for people who are tired of always having to be the strong one, the person everyone calls, the person who handles everything, the person who looks fine on the outside but knows there's a lot going on underneath. If that sounds familiar, I want therapy to be one place where you don't have to keep that up. With me, you can talk like yourself. You can laugh, you can cry, you can say "I don't know." We'll start wherever you are and go from there. Hi, I'm Keia, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensed in Virginia and Texas, and founder of Beyond Your Reflection Counseling Services, LLC. I'm glad you found your way here, and I want you to know I'm not here to judge your story, I'm here to help you understand it, work through it, and decide what you want the next part of it to look like. I know people come to therapy for all kinds of reasons. Sometimes you know exactly what's wrong, and sometimes all you know is that something doesn't feel right anymore. Either way, you don't have to come into our first session with everything figured out. I've spent years working in community mental health, crisis intervention, and care management, supporting people through anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship concerns, and major life changes. I've learned that people don't always need someone telling them what they "should" be doing. They need someone who will really listen, understand what's happening, and help them figure out what comes next. That's the kind of therapist I am. CURRENTLY FULLY BOOKED FOR COUPLES SESSION! Thanks.

I'm looking to partner with you to merge our strengths in order to discern which tools will be most effective in your journey. I have been working with children and their families my entire career. Since 2010, I have worked with children and their families as an intensive in-home counselor, a counselor and supervisor for therapeutic day treatment in the schools, an outpatient therapist and a residential treatment therapist. My Master of Social Work came from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2013. In addition, I have trained others in Suicide Prevention in order to break down the avoidance of conversation surrounding suicide. Prior to becoming a therapist, I graduated from Duke Divinity School with a Master of Religious Education, Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity and worked in the church as a minister. While my worldview is Christian and I hope everyone can have a spiritual journey, I am respectful of various views. I look forward to walking with you as you move toward a more meaningful life.

Hi all, my name of Faye Miles and I am a Breast cancer survivor and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and have been licensed since 2010. Do you find little happiness in your life? Do you find yourself anxious, depressed, unfilled in relationships, constantly comparing yourself to others? Or do you find little time for yourself always giving your all to your work or others? Have you been hurt by others and are looking for healing or experienced loss that has left you depleted? What if I told you, there are ways to live and feel happy and fulfilled. There are ways to heal. Self-love is important because it motivates much of our positive behavior while reducing harmful behavior. It both empowers us to take risks and to say no to things that don't work for us. It's a key component of building self-compassion. Self-love helps us take care of ourselves, lower stress, and strive for success and I strive to help adolescents, young adults and adults find fulfillment and happiness through exploration and exercises into their identity. This also can promote healing. Are you experiencing frustration, confusion or turmoil in your life? Even to the point where you see no sense of direction while trying to navigate through life? At times, this can be overwhelming for individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, PTSD, including other mental health disorders. Hi! My name is Stephaney and I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida with almost a decade of experience in treating adults and adolescents for various mental health challenges and co-occurring diagnoses. I was inspired to become a therapist by my unique experience migrating to the United States at the age of 13 and attending middle school which was very challenging for me. Culture shock became my reality and one that would eventually lead me to “Severe anxiety.” Even with a very strong family support system, I felt alone and trapped by my own inner fears and self-defeating thoughts. Constant worry and fear of being bullied by my peers became my everyday experience. Through all these obstacles, I was able to process my feelings and experiences with my faith in Jesus Christ, supportive family, and a few good friends. To this extent, I have come to recognize the benefits of a strong support system and the need for social and relational connection. As a mental health counselor, I’m privileged to be a part of that support system for many people. I work with my clients to connect the dots between their thoughts, emotions, and actions, all while providing sound strategies to promote healthier thought processes. I believe that every human being deserves a chance to be heard and understood, and therapy has taught me that as human beings, we are more alike than different. So as your therapist, I’m excited to be a listening ear for you and help guide you toward your goals.

Let's reduce feelings of overwhelm, together. I am a Doctor of Social Work, trauma specialized, and clinically licensed in DC, VA, SC, RI and IN as a social worker and substance use disorder therapist serving children, teens, and adults (mandated and non-mandated). We can focus on anger, feelings of hopelessness, overwhelm, panic, grief, always thinking, people pleasing, holding guilt and shame, inability to focus, nightmares, and so many other thoughts, feelings, experiences, and emotions that result from the environment around us. We can really lean into substance use and the agonizing cycle of it all. I am nationally certified in TF-CBT (ages 3-18), and CPT and PE trained for adults with PTSD. Additionally, you can receive mindfulness-based, somatic integration, and a holistic lens to examine your needs via my 11 years’ experience and an additional master's in integrative health coaching plus 20 years’ experience in therapeutic design, so we can look together at social and environmental problem and solution spaces based upon your needs. I've also worked for several years in urban public school systems, so can help students, caregivers, and educators navigating school-based stress. I am culturally humble and honor intersectionality. Thank YOU for reading about how we can partner to increase your feelings of hope and wellness.

I am currently accepting new clients for individual sessions via teletherapy. I have been practicing as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida for the past 23 years and am also a Licensed Therapist in Virginia, largely with a focus in the areas of depression, anxiety, thought disturbance, addiction, emotion regulation, relationship distress, and self-esteem. I feel many of the responses we struggle with are connected to a traumatic event (or perceived trauma) from the past. Currently, my primary focus has been in the individual realm, with a focus on relationship growth. I will encourage you to prioritize the areas you wish to address in therapy and tailor my approach on an individual basis. I believe in client autonomy so the areas that are addressed are the areas you want to address. I draw on several treatment modalities (including, but not limited to, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy) to allow you to further develop your strengths and help you meet all of your treatment plan goals at a speed that works best for you. I also have completed training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy as well as the Developmental Model for Couples and integrate both of these approaches into my relational therapy practice. Overall, I help you to see that managing the stressor is more important than just managing the stress as it will allow you to cope with anything that comes your way.

If you can read this, you made the first step. Congratulations. Seeking therapy is hard. Most people delay and tell themselves that whatever they are experiencing must be the way life is. Chances are if you have reached the point to begin exploring therapy, counseling can help make your life better. While therapy is often hard, it can be an enjoyable and uplifting experience as well. I believe that you cannot laugh without a combination of insight and relief. You can expect some humor in most sessions. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 20 years. In that time I have worked with men, women, teens, and families on a wide variety of issues. Sometimes that work simply involved helping them through a particular incident or life change that overwhelmed them. Other times our work together centered around longstanding issues of depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction. In addition to traditional cognitive behavioral therapy, I also offer a fourth-wave therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). I have found this technique to be highly effective in helping people with trauma and or anxiety. Our minds and bodies are connected. Anyone who has experienced a tight neck and shoulders or an upset stomach when they were stressed knows this. EFT uses acupressure (done by the client) and cognitive interventions to provide fast and effective relief. With over 20 years of clinical experience, I am ready to help you through the challenges you are facing. In addition to counseling, I also provide vocational testing, coaching, and consulting. I provide both Christian and secular counseling depending on the needs of my clients. For clients with high level confidentiality concerns due to corporate or clearance issues, there are ways we can do EFT without you ever speaking out loud about events.

I am Teri, a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and licensed substance abuse treatment practitioner (LSATP) with extensive experience in behavioral health, having worked in the field since 2018. My dedication lies in supporting individuals who are navigating mental health challenges and substance use disorders. I believe in the power of education, helping my clients understand how their behaviors and past experiences shape their present circumstances and future potential. I am now accepting clients in the State of Florida and Tennessee. My approach to therapy is rooted in empowerment. I work collaboratively with my clients to uncover the how, when, what, and why of their struggles, so they can better understand the underlying causes of their issues. By addressing these root causes, I believe individuals can begin to break the cycle of unhealthy behaviors and make meaningful changes in their lives. If you are struggling with emotional or behavioral challenges, I am here to help you gain clarity, learn new coping strategies, and create a path toward lasting change. Together, we can work toward understanding and healing so you can live a more fulfilling life.

Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Virginia. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Virginia from Norfolk to Roanoke! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Virginia.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Anger Management, is filtering therapists in Virginia that work with patients with similar concerns.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
