I have been providing outpatient therapy to individuals, couples, and families since 2019; prior to that, I worked as an intensive in-home counselor and ABA therapist for ten years while I obtained my master's degree and completed my residency. As much as I enjoy seeing my clients in person, I have strengthened my ability to provide therapy virtually, applying various resources and maintaining a strong rapport through my non-judgmental and open-minded approach. I have an extensive background in working with people who have a history of trauma as well as those struggling with grief. I have a strong cognitive behavioral background, but also employ facets of ACT, mindfulness, reality, developmental psychology, solution-focused, grief, and family systems approaches as appropriate to meet the needs of my clients. I strive to understand your unique worldview and adapt my approach to best address your particular circumstances. I absolutely love the work that I do; empowering my clients to achieve wellness and balance in their lives fulfills me in a way no other career path could. I am just as comfortable having a relaxed conversation about your issues and concerns as I am reviewing psycho-educational materials and assigning homework, if that's what you prefer.

My aim is to help clients navigate major life transitions, anxiety, depression, and overwhelming stress — especially when life feels uncertain, heavy, or out of control. Whether you’re dealing with a big change, emotional burnout, or financial pressure, therapy with me is a place to slow down, get grounded, and start making sense of what you’re going through. I take a warm, supportive, but direct approach to therapy. I won’t just nod and listen, I’ll help you notice patterns, challenge what’s keeping you stuck, and build practical tools so you can feel more steady, confident, and in control of your life. My background is a clinical social worker working full time in medical social work so I witness people's life change every day in major ways. This has lead me to prioritize self care and build intentional ways to help myself and others manage stress. My top self-care activities include traveling, spending quality with family and friends, seeking out thrilling adventures, discovering new RNB music, and walking. I'm hopeful that we can identify some coping skills that work for you.

As a neurodivergent Black woman living with a chronic illness and mother of three adult children, two of whom identify with the LGBTQ+ commmunity, I am always interested in the deeper question people carry about their lives. Many of the individuals I work with are thoughtful, capable people who have spent years showing up for others, meeting expectations, and doing what seemed like the responsible thing to do. At some point, though, many begin to notice a quiet sense that something no longer fits. My work centers around helping people slow down enough to understand what is actually happening beneath that feeling. Together we look at the patterns, experiences, and internal narratives that shape how you see yourself and the choices available to you. From that place, people often begin to rediscover a clearer sense of who they are and what direction their lives might take moving forward. I am especially drawn to working with adults navigating identity shifts, relationship transitions, and moments in life where the path forward is no longer obvious.

Hello! My name is Jessica and I have been working in the human services and mental health field since 2013, concentrating on therapy for the previous 3 years. My frameworks for therapy are strengths based and solution focused, with an emphasis on improving confidence, self-worth, and self-esteem for all. I believe in the power of humor, community, and finding a way to be a little more kind to ourselves each day. Previous clients have stated that my therapeutic approach was compassionate with a warm directness when needed. I received my Bachelor’s from the University of Denver, and during my time there worked in resource advocacy for low income women and also led a self-esteem building group for teenage girls. Earning my degree in Gender Studies laid a foundation for viewing the world through a lens of social justice, structural inequality, and intersectionality. In 2018 I graduated with a Masters in Social Work from VCU. My work since that time has included services for people experiencing homelessness in the Richmond area, hospital discharge coordination, and emergency room psychiatric assessments and crisis intervention for inpatient hospital admission. When not working, I can be found spending time with my two senior pets, growing hot peppers in the backyard, and enjoying a good book.

Are you fighting anxiety, depression, profound life transitions like grief and loss, career shifts, addiction, or a newly diagnosed chronic/autoimmune medical condition? Hi, I'm Raisa, an LCSW and VCU graduate specializing in anxiety, depressive disorders, and the mental impact of medical trauma. Having survived trauma in early life and personally navigating an autoimmune condition requiring chemically and biologically invasive treatments as an adult; I hold a deep, non-judgmental understanding of the profound toll chronic illness takes on your life and identity. I value the power of resilience and adaptation in humans. This lived experience equips me to help you process medical trauma holistically. I provide warm, humanistic, virtual-only therapy tailored entirely to your unique story. As a South Asian person of color, I am verbally fluent in my native language, Bangla/Bengali, as well as Hindi, and some knowledge of Urdu. This background gives me deep insight into the unique cultural intersections that Asians can face in the Western world. Additionally, my professional background includes over 4.5 years of working in a jail, heavily highlighting my crisis intervention and suicidal/homicidal risk assessment skills while working directly with substance use and personality disorders. By combining Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Dr. Kabat-Zinn's mindfulness models (MBSR/MBCT), we will unpack your experiences in partnership. My clinical approach prioritizes a strongly holistic treatment plan across all 4 Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual domains of life, adapted to your diagnoses. If desired, this is an opportunity to hone your spiritual practice and discipline—intentionally refining, practicing, and sharpening your daily habits to connect with something larger than yourself. Together, we'll meet your needs, wants, and goals, by building practical tools to reclaim your peace, regain control, and thrive. Through unconditional regard and trust, I’m honored to stand by you and help re-discover the best version of yourself!

I am an AK amputee, a person with a disability, a disabled person, a one-legged person, or as medical folks will say a person with a "residual limb" (I have never heard an amputee call their stump a residual limb). If you have been looking for a therapist and you see the photo they choose to put on their page, how many put their disability in their photo? That choice says something. I am also a psychotherapist with 50 years experience of providing therapy to adolescents, adults, and families. My identity shifted 10 years ago when my right leg was amputated above the knee (AK). The identity as a disabled person is not a sought after identity. In many ways being disabled sucks big time. Providing telehealth services would be one way for me to "hide" my disability. Just never point the camera toward my leg. I don't like my experience of me just walking into a room and my leg has already introduced me long before I say my name. I am looking for clients that are disabled in some way and want to work on not letting that "disability label " suck your lifeblood away.

I’m a therapist who works with teens (13–17) and adults (18+) who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck in their heads, or just tired of holding everything together on their own. A lot of the people I work with look like they’re doing “fine” on the outside, but inside they’re dealing with anxiety, stress, low mood, or feeling like they’re falling behind in school, work, relationships, or life in general. In therapy, I offer a space where you don’t have to filter yourself or pretend you’re okay. Together, we focus on making sense of what you’re feeling, finding practical ways to cope, and helping you feel more grounded and in control of your day-to-day life. The goal is simple: to help you feel more like yourself again, with tools that actually fit your real life.

I know at times life can seem confusing or even impossible. I believe with every fiber of my being we all have the answers we need. Somehow we get separated from our core strength. You are the expert on you, you alone hold your truth. I am interested in your story and use the description, "enlightened witness" as a way to describe some of what I do in my work as a therapist and healer. I see myself as a fellow traveler, a helper, and a companion who "holds the lantern" to help guide people to move out of dark places and into their truth. Much of the time we are living a narrative others have crafted, often driven by fear or pain rather than strength. These narratives can feel like prisons but we can heal and take back our story, and choose to see from our core. Embrace compassion, reflection and most of all self-love. Some of my greatest joy comes from helping people move past pain into healthy and loving relationships with themselves and others. I believe suffering is inevitable but not without wisdom and growth. Sometimes seeing our strengths is difficult. Self-love must include your whole being and all parts ~ messy, vulnerable, raw and authentic. You are the velveteen rabbit and you are already worthy of your own love. You are already real. I am licensed in Virginia, West Virginia and Texas. I see clients in these states only at this point. FYI Please schedule on the hour only. Otherwise, I will have to call you back and reschedule. I usually offer mostly daytime hours so having the time to meet during the day is important.

Are you a woman facing big decisions? Navigating relationship challenges, family dynamics, parenting difficulties, career pivots? My background shapes how I approach therapy with clients facing such women's issues, which includes years as a licensed mental health counselor, but also as serving in senior leadership within higher education, supporting clients as a transformational coach, and balancing parenting along the way. This mix (and juggling act) gives me a practical understanding of how emotional wellbeing is often shaped by work, caregiving, relationships, and major life responsibilities. Many of the woman I work with are thoughtful, capable, and carrying more than others realize. They often appear highly functional on the outside while privately feeling overwhelmed, depleted, uncertain, or disconnected from themselves. I help clients slow things down enough to understand what is happening beneath the surface, identify what needs attention, and move forward in ways that feel grounded and realistic. I am licensed in Washington, Virginia, and Rhode Island, am a nationally certified counselor, and hold a doctorate in adult and higher education. While my colleagues may call me Dr. T, in counseling I'm just Melanie. I'm here to support you, help you find clarity and calm, offer guidance, levity, and a safe space for tears, perimenopausal rage, or a well placed curse word. Together, we find solutions to the barriers keeping you from your next chapter.

Are you feeling anxious? Unsure? Stuck? Disconnected? Disappointed? Do you feel like you are living a life that other people pushed you into instead of the life you want? I’m here to help you create a clear vision of who you are and a path for how you can reach that by breaking out of the patterns and cycles that are holding you back. My goal is to create a safe and compassionate space in which we can work together to figure out what’s keeping you stuck, overwhelmed, or confused, and determine how we can help you undo what is keeping you from the life that was meant for you. Hi all, my name of Faye Miles and I am a Breast cancer survivor and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and have been licensed since 2010. Do you find little happiness in your life? Do you find yourself anxious, depressed, unfilled in relationships, constantly comparing yourself to others? Or do you find little time for yourself always giving your all to your work or others? Have you been hurt by others and are looking for healing or experienced loss that has left you depleted? What if I told you, there are ways to live and feel happy and fulfilled. There are ways to heal. Self-love is important because it motivates much of our positive behavior while reducing harmful behavior. It both empowers us to take risks and to say no to things that don't work for us. It's a key component of building self-compassion. Self-love helps us take care of ourselves, lower stress, and strive for success and I strive to help adolescents, young adults and adults find fulfillment and happiness through exploration and exercises into their identity. This also can promote healing. I am passionate about this work and working with others and if you feel I am the right fit we will work together in this journey to help you explore, find resources and hopefully find self-love, and compassion.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
