My Background
As someone who personally embraces a journey of mental and emotional health, I am
thrilled that you, too, value your own. Welcome to your greater!
When asked why I have chosen this field, I always respond with, “It chose me”. I was
chosen to enter my own healing process and then pursue higher education at Sam
Houston State University to professionally qualify my purpose. I obtained my Bachelor's
of Science (2005) and Master’s (2009) degrees both from the illustrious college. Since
that time I have developed my skill set by working with individuals, couples, and families
in a variety of settings that include outpatient psychiatric programs/hospitals,
Department of Family and Protective Services, and array of private practices.
I work with clients who want to improve the way they experience life. The desire for better relationships with themselves and with others, and to gain a sense of purpose and meaning. I’ve always been interested in what drives people and believe that we can usually discover what is best for ourselves if we slow down, take the time to think things through, talk about it with a person we trust, and express the feelings we have in healthy ways—even the negative ones we may try to avoid. I use a number of therapeutic modalities in my practice, which connect thoughts to feelings and feelings to thoughts, enabling my clients to change and grow in the positive direction that they might envision for themselves. I work with clients who have struggled with addiction, anger, anxiety, depression, relationship separation, internal conflict and conflict with others, grief and loss, and other transitions and adjustment issues. I have completed Gottman trainings, as well as Emotion-Focused Therapy, which offers a structured approach and an emotional map for couples or individuals to learn how successful couples make their relationships last and how to handle conflict in a way that prevents damage to the relationship and helps them feel better connected to their partner. I am also trained in EMDR, a therapy designed to help a person unlock their nervous system to recover from trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other problems that can take hold.
Hello, I am a trauma-informed Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Therapist. Thanks for stopping by I’m glad to see you are taking the steps to change your situation. I view myself as a change agent, I’m here to help you through the process. Almost all of us find areas in our lives in which we need guidance.
I have been working to empower others for 18 years. In that time, I have worked in several settings including community mental health, inpatient psychiatric care, acute hospitals, and the public school system. I use Cognitive Behavioral techniques to help clients develop insight and new skills. In addition, I am experienced with trauma-informed practice, including trauma-focused CBT, as well as using mindfulness techniques. I lean towards the use of evidence-based interventions from diverse models to fit the needs of the individual so treatment can be tailored to fit your individual needs.
