About me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas. For 33 years, I have helped adults feel safe enough to talk about the hard things. I build a strong, collaborative therapeutic relationship so you can talk about your thoughts and feelings, resolve what feels stuck, make the changes you desire, and create a life worth living based on your values. My eclectic approach is tailored to your needs - blending Psychodynamic and Mindfulness approaches, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other modalities. I have experience working with a wide array of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, grief and loss, aging, end-of-life issues, relationship issues, work-related challenges, and providing LGBTQ+ affirming therapy. If you want to work with someone who cares and wants to help you succeed, please take that first step and reach out to schedule an appointment.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is for us to begin getting to know each other, and for me to gather some history about you and to hear what problems and needs bring you to therapy. There is no need to feel pressured, you do not have to address anything you are not ready to talk about - I understand that it is difficult to walk in and begin speaking with someone you do not know yet, much less confiding your most personal issues. I look forward to meeting and speaking with you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I enjoy working with people and helping them learn to feel better about themselves, to have better relationships, and to develop the confidence needed to tackle life's challenges. After all, we all face them; there is no such thing as a problem-free life. I believe everyone is capable of resolving past and present problems that perhaps have been painful, and moving forward into a richer, fuller life. I am good at listening, hearing you, and understanding where you are coming from. Also, when appropriate, I may challenge you to look at an issue from a new perspective and hopefully gain beneficial new insight. It is my intention to provide help and support as you work through life's transitions and toward your goals.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work well with adult individuals in virtual therapy sessions. I am comfortable with people presenting with all manner of issues, especially when they have made a commitment to themselves to do whatever it takes to get better. I find therapy works best when a client is willing to do homework I might suggest sometimes, like reading an article I provide, or perhaps journaling a bit.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I tailor my therapeutic approach to what works best for each individual client, drawing from a variety of proven techniques: • Exploring Past Patterns (Psychodynamic Therapy): Helps uncover and reframe negative beliefs rooted in past experiences or trauma, clearing the way for meaningful personal growth. • Managing Thoughts and Anxiety (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy / CBT): Teaches practical tools, like thought replacement, to shift negative thinking habits and reduce daily anxiety. • Staying Present (Mindfulness): Focuses on helping clients stay grounded in the moment, reducing depression tied to the past and anxiety about the future. By combining these and other evidence-based methods, I ensure your support is personalized to your unique goals and needs.
