I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and reside in Texas, I am also licensed in Colorado, Florida, Utah, South Carolina, and Vermont. I specialize in helping you identify and overcome issues that hinder your day-to-day enjoyment of life and/or interfere with progress towards goals you have set. In over thirty years of private practice counseling I have learned to meet clients’ needs not only with continued education and research but also through a multitude of life experiences. I enjoy working with a diverse range of clients and have found that humor when utilized in an appropriate way and time can be very beneficial. I believe trust is a fundamental element in any relationship. This trust has to be developed and nurtured to remain genuine. Through trust other aspects important to the relationship can prosper such as comfort in being open, sincerity, and a willingness to change. I find that humor when utilized in an appropriate way and time can be very beneficial. I am a life-long Texan, however, I have traveled extensively and embraced many different cultures and location specific issues. Through all of life’s changes I have learned that, even with the best of plans, things still do not always work out the way we would like. I have experienced many of the same issues as my clients so can relate to them on a personal basis. This has also allowed me to acquire an understanding of what clients may be going through even if I have not experienced the exact situation. Through any adversity there is no reason to feel alone.

Whatever you may be feeling (and for whatever reasons), your emotions are valid. Your thoughts and pain are valid. There are reasons behind them. Let's explore them together to help you meet your goals and find a helpful perspective. I have Master's degrees in Counseling and Religious Studies so I can incorporate spiritual guidance into counseling if you would like(completely optional). I have training in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) and worked previously as a hospital chaplain which was an incredible experience. However, I'm proud to say that I have formed wonderful relationships with clients who are both spiritual and non-spiritual. I truly believe that everyone can improve themselves, find healing, and live a more fulfilling life with the right tools, honesty and openness, the willingness to make necessary changes, and a non-judgmental, compassionate environment. I work hard to create this for my clients.

Life can be overwhelming and it can be difficult to communicate these feelings with those closest to us. Past experiences have a way of affecting the present. Have you found yourself wondering why you are reacting a certain way or repeating the same mistakes and expecting a different outcome? Don't forget to give yourself grace and space while navigating through this decision. I'm here to help and provide you with a safe space as you start this journey of self-discovery and healing. I provide holistic, client-centered approaches to each session. Just as no two days are the same, no two clients are the same. I believe you are the expert in your life. Hello, I'm Beatriz, Do you ever feel like you second guess yourself a lot? Do you ever wonder when that started or where that comes from? Are you afraid that your choices will go against cultural traditions and family believes? Do you have trouble vocalizing your needs? I help individuals find their courage to start living the life that they really want for themselves. It's not easy, it takes practice, patience, and at times taking a little deeper look into our fears. Together we will explore fears, difficult emotions, relationships, we might even identify somethings that you may have been avoiding. Through motivational interviewing, we will explore what are your goals while in therapy. I use a strength based approach to start some action towards those goals. I start where you are and I will respect any decision you make along the way. Wether you are struggling through depression, anxiety, trauma, or want to overcome something to start a new adventure, this is a partnership. I am here to support you through the journey. Seeking therapy can feel scary at times, so I want to congratulate you for taking these steps. As a Latina, I know how hard it can be to not feel like you have a safe space to heal and grow. As a spoken word artist, I know the importance of telling your story. I will provide you with a space where there will be no judgement and a lot empathy. So, let's work together and start empowering your self love!

First and foremost, I am a Christian. While my faith in God is very strong, I work within the parameters established by my clients. If they do not believe, and do not request faith-based services, this will never come up in our work together, but I hope to treat you with all the compassion that Jesus would. That was the greatest compliment I ever had from a Lesbian client, that for the first time in her life, she felt treated as Jesus would have treated her. I am a trauma survivor myself. I know the difficult road back from childhood and adult traumatic events first-hand, not just from the textbooks. I dedicated my life and 35-year career running a nonprofit serving survivors of trauma--child abuse victims, veterans, domestic violence, sexual trauma, surviving family members of homicide victims, and terroristic attacks. It is unconscionable what human beings will do to one another, and it can perpetuate for generations if you neglect your own recovery. I am also a mediator and have had the honor of reconciling many marriages--some who even came to me for divorce and custody originally, wanting to save their marriage but not knowing what else to try. I've seen healing in many generational disputes, and in interventions with families trying to get an addicted or severely mentally ill member to treatment. I do Workplace Mediation and Eldercare and Guardianship Mediation as well. Have differences in parenting? Parenting and Discipline Planning are accomplished expeditiously in mediation. Want the perfect wedding gift? Give them Pre-marital or Re-marital Mediation so they can discuss and agree on life choices together before they get married and start arguing endlessly about them.

I am currently practicing EMDR and working towards certification. The majority of my experience has been in working with children and teenagers to understand their behaviors and overcome trauma; however, I am eager and ready to help all ages. If you are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma related symptoms, low self esteem, or health challenges, I am confident I can help.
