My name is Elizabeth and I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the states of Texas and Arizona. I am also a certified school counselor and transitioned to full-time mental health counseling after working as a high school counselor. I have been working as a counselor for 10 years, primarily in the school setting. I helped my students with issues such as family problems, academic struggles, relationship issues, trauma/abuse, ADHD, autism, LGBT-issues, depression, anxiety, perfectionism, grief, and suicidal ideation. Before working as a counselor, I was an elementary teacher for 6 years. I have experience working with adults and adolescents. I love seeing my clients understand themselves better and improve their mental health. I feel comfortable counseling people from a variety of backgrounds, especially those whose backgrounds are different than my own. My entire professional career has been spent with a primarily Hispanic population, but I am comfortable with other cultures, as well. I am a big fan of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Solutions-focused therapy, but I try to cater my counseling to each client, so I often incorporate different counseling philosophies as needed. I believe my clients are the experts on their own lives and I want to work with them to improve their contentment, coping skills, and mental health. I believe it is important and beneficial to have a nonjudgmental, unbiased person to talk to. This is one of the best parts of counseling. I often use humor to lighten the mood when counseling. I find this helps grow my relationships with my clients. Congratulations on making the first step towards getting help. I would love to work with you.

Welcome! I’m so glad you decided to level up on purpose! By that, I mean your incredible sense of self-worth has led you to care for your most valuable asset and most crucial instrument to your making it through this time: your mental wealth. With that, the outcome of your treatment depends largely on your willingness to engage in this process, which may, at times, result in considerable discomfort. As a licensed professional counselor, I hope to utilize my knowledge of life and behavioral sciences to empower individuals, strengthen families and help build stronger communities. I have gained much insight through mine own personal experiences and educational opportunities. I have studied and published in the areas of physics, biological research, medicine, and substance use. My experience includes individual and group therapy in inpatient and partial hospitalization settings, community agencies, for court mandated and state funded clients, and private practice. I perform case management for clients experiencing persistent and severe mental illness, by way protecting our communities and public and ensuring clients are rehabilitated and re-integrated into community.

Hi there. I'm Abigail McNeely. I am the owner of Wellspring Behavioral Health, founded in 1998, and collaborate with Grow to offer therapy to people like you. Visit my website at www.ibwell.com to learn a bit more about Wellspring. Let me tell you a little about me. I received my Doctor of Psychology from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota and a Master’s degree in clinical social work from the University of Texas in Austin. In addition to graduate coursework, I completed a neuropsychological practicum at Austin State Hospital, a health psychology internship at The Everett Clinic in Everett Washington, and a counseling internship at New Life Institute in Austin, Texas. I approach therapy as a teacher, coach, and cheerleader. My perspective is holistic; that is, I see us as whole beings and believe therapy is best when we remember to acknowledge our complexity. I started my career as a paramedic in Florida, and Texas. Working in EMS for 15 years with sick and injured people prompted a great interest in the underlying psychological elements that drive us as humans. I learned then that how we respond to difficulties shapes how we endure and recover. I was and am truly amazed at the strength and resilience of people! The privilege of joining with others as they face their challenges has enriched me and I want to share that with you. In my downtime, I like to hike, camp, play with my pups, love on my cats, and watch the world go by. I have been married for 37 years and am devoted to my spouse and our future.

First and foremost, I am a Christian. While my faith in God is very strong, I work within the parameters established by my clients. If they do not believe, and do not request faith-based services, this will never come up in our work together, but I hope to treat you with all the compassion that Jesus would. That was the greatest compliment I ever had from a Lesbian client, that for the first time in her life, she felt treated as Jesus would have treated her. I am a trauma survivor myself. I know the difficult road back from childhood and adult traumatic events first-hand, not just from the textbooks. I dedicated my life and 35-year career running a nonprofit serving survivors of trauma--child abuse victims, veterans, domestic violence, sexual trauma, surviving family members of homicide victims, and terroristic attacks. It is unconscionable what human beings will do to one another, and it can perpetuate for generations if you neglect your own recovery. I am also a mediator and have had the honor of reconciling many marriages--some who even came to me for divorce and custody originally, wanting to save their marriage but not knowing what else to try. I've seen healing in many generational disputes, and in interventions with families trying to get an addicted or severely mentally ill member to treatment. I do Workplace Mediation and Eldercare and Guardianship Mediation as well. Have differences in parenting? Parenting and Discipline Planning are accomplished expeditiously in mediation. Want the perfect wedding gift? Give them Pre-marital or Re-marital Mediation so they can discuss and agree on life choices together before they get married and start arguing endlessly about them.

Life can bring challenging chapters in the narrative of our life. Processing and moving forward from these struggles is possible. You have taken a significant step in reaching out. On my journey of healing, I have faced losses that shook my sense of self and I had to move through experiences I did not believe I would have the strength to recover from. I am a person who is comfortable with the uncomfortable. In fact, because I have had to work through most of my dark times alone, I seek to be a support for individuals when challenges arise. A guiding goal for me is to reduce the number of individuals who have to mirror my lived experience. I am an advocate for expressive arts, strength-based, and body-centered approaches. I have over 20 years combined experience working with children and adolescents, as an educator, artistic director, and counselor. I am honored to be a resource of support for youth and adults experiencing grief and processing traumatic experiences. Should you like to learn more about my approach you can contact me at moonflowergrowing@outlook.com.

Hey, most people call me Jess. I believe counseling is a mutual relationship. I view each person I see as the expert in their lives and I am in the passenger seat. My approach to counseling is holistic and trauma informed, every person is different, therefore every counseling approach does not work for everyone. I will take the time to work with you to find what works best for you. Since everyone is different; if a client and I do not mesh well, I will help them to find a counselor who works better for them.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Texas rather than a city like Dallas?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Texas from Houston to Austin! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Texas.

Will my therapist take Humana Dual (Medicare & Medicaid)?

Yes! If you use Humana Dual (Medicare & Medicaid) you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have Humana Dual (Medicare & Medicaid) you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
