New to Grow
Hi, I’m Amber, a licensed professional counselor dedicated to supporting adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, and life transitions. I provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their experiences, build coping skills, and reconnect with themselves. My approach is collaborative and grounded in evidence-based practices, helping you feel empowered, supported, and confident as you work toward meaningful change.
During your first session, you can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where we begin getting to know one another. We will discuss what brought you to therapy, your current concerns, and any goals you may have for the counseling process. I may ask questions about your background, mental health history, and day-to-day functioning to gain a better understanding of your needs. This first session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, share what you’re comfortable with, and get a feel for how I work. Together, we will begin identifying areas of focus and discuss a plan for moving forward. My goal is to ensure you feel heard, respected, and comfortable as we start your journey toward healing and growth.
What stands out about my therapeutic approach is the balance between compassion and structure. I create a warm, nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe to be vulnerable, while also providing practical tools and strategies that promote real, lasting change. My work is rooted in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and I focus on helping clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I take a collaborative and personalized approach, tailoring each session to meet the unique needs and goals of the individual. Clients often find that our work is both insightful and actionable. They not only gain deeper self-awareness but also leave with concrete skills they can apply in their daily lives. As a result, clients frequently experience improved emotional regulation, increased confidence, and a greater sense of control over their thoughts and life decisions. My goal is to empower clients to not only cope, but to truly grow, heal, and thrive.
I am best positioned to serve adolescents and adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and major life transitions. I work well with clients who may feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or stuck in negative thought patterns, yet are open to exploring themselves and making meaningful change. This includes individuals who are struggling with self-doubt, difficulty managing stress, unresolved grief, or challenges within relationships.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
My approach to CBT is both structured and collaborative, allowing clients to gain a deeper understanding of the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I use CBT to help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns, cognitive distortions, and core beliefs that may be contributing to emotional distress. I guide clients in developing healthier, more balanced ways of thinking while also incorporating practical coping strategies to improve emotional regulation and daily functioning.
