New to Grow
Hi, I'm Carla, and I'm glad you're here. Reaching out for therapy isn't always easy, and I believe finding the right therapist is an important first step. I work with women who are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, burnout, low self-esteem, or the constant pressure of trying to hold everything together. Whether you're balancing work, family, relationships, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, you don't have to navigate it alone. My approach is warm, supportive, and collaborative. I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself without fear of judgment. At the same time, I believe therapy should be practical. I won't just listen; we'll work together to understand what's keeping you stuck, identify patterns that are no longer serving you, and develop realistic strategies you can use in your everyday life. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and person-centered techniques, tailoring each session to your unique needs and goals. I also value cultural humility and understand how life experiences, family expectations, identity, and personal values can shape the way we experience stress and healing. My goal is to help you feel more confident, develop healthier coping skills, strengthen your self-worth, and create a life that feels more balanced and fulfilling. I believe meaningful change happens one step at a time, and you don't have to have everything figured out before you begin. If you're ready to invest in yourself and start creating lasting change, I'd be honored to walk alongside you on your journey.
Your first session is all about getting to know you. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, the challenges you're currently facing, and what you hope to gain from our work together. I'll ask questions about your personal history, relationships, and any factors that may be affecting your emotional well-being so I can better understand your unique experiences. This is also your opportunity to ask questions and get a feel for whether we're a good fit. My goal is to create a welcoming, judgment-free space where you feel heard, respected, and comfortable sharing at your own pace. There is no pressure to tell your entire story in one session. By the end of our first meeting, we'll begin identifying your goals for therapy and discuss a plan tailored to your needs. Together, we'll build practical skills, increase self-awareness, and work toward meaningful, lasting change one step at a time.
I believe therapy should be a place where you feel genuinely seen, supported, and challenged when needed. My style is warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative. I'll hold space for your emotions while also helping you recognize patterns, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and take meaningful steps toward change. My perspective has been shaped by both my personal and professional experiences. As someone who has navigated major life transitions, adapted to different cultures, served in the military, and balanced the many roles life can bring, I understand that strength doesn't mean you never struggle. Those experiences have deepened my empathy and reinforced my belief that healing is possible with the right support. I won't tell you what to do, but I also won't let you stay stuck. I'll ask thoughtful questions, offer honest feedback, and provide practical tools you can apply outside of therapy. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe enough to be vulnerable and empowered enough to grow.
I'm best positioned to support women who feel overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected from themselves. Many of my clients are balancing demanding careers, family responsibilities, or major life transitions while struggling with anxiety, depression, burnout, low self-esteem, or chronic self-doubt. My clients are often ready for more than just a place to vent, they want to better understand themselves, develop healthier coping skills, build confidence, and create lasting change. If you're motivated to break unhelpful patterns, improve your emotional well-being, and start prioritizing your own needs without guilt, we'll likely be a great fit. Together, we'll work toward helping you feel more balanced, resilient, and aligned with the life you want to live.
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. Together, we'll identify unhelpful thinking patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or burnout and replace them with healthier, more balanced perspectives. CBT is practical and goal-oriented, so you'll leave sessions with tools and strategies you can apply in everyday life. My approach is collaborative and tailored to your unique experiences, helping you create meaningful, lasting change one step at a time.
Motivational Interviewing
I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients explore their thoughts, values, and goals in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment. Rather than telling you what to do, I help you uncover your own strengths and motivation for change. Together, we'll work through uncertainty, build confidence, and identify realistic steps toward the life you want. MI is especially helpful for clients who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to begin, allowing change to happen at a pace that feels meaningful and sustainable.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients build practical skills for managing intense emotions, reducing stress, and improving relationships. Together, we'll learn techniques for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and effective communication. My approach focuses on helping you respond to life's challenges with greater confidence and balance, so you can navigate difficult situations without feeling overwhelmed or reacting in ways that don't align with your goals.
