New to Grow
Hello! I have always been drawn to the counseling profession. I started as a social worker, then transitioned into education and private practice. I have worked alongside children and families for two decades in different roles. Most recently, I help aspiring counselors achieve their goal of becoming fully licensed. I work well with children, teens, and adults, helping them navigate challenges with warmth and understanding. My focus is on creating a safe space where you can explore your feelings and find your own path forward.
I think of the first session as the beginning of a relationship built on trust, respect, and authenticity. This is a time for me to learn what brought you to therapy and what you hope to achieve in the short and long term.
As a client-centered therapist, I believe healing begins in a space of genuine connection, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. I create a warm, nonjudgmental environment where you feel safe to express yourself fully. By honoring your unique experience and trusting in your capacity for growth, I support you in discovering your own solutions. I work very hard to create a space where you feel genuinely heard and understood—not judged or directed. I speak with warmth and clarity, reflecting what I hear with empathy and authenticity. Whether we're exploring difficult emotions or celebrating small victories, I remain transparent and present, encouraging you to express yourself freely.
I work best with children, teens, and women. I have experience working with individuals with ADHD and school difficulties. I have experience working with women dealing with anxiety and relationship issues. I have experience as a school counselor and I have a knowledge of special education and serve as an educational diagnostician in my day job. I am very familiar with navigating education systems.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I utilize Person-Centered Therapy while working with clients with the goal of fostering self-awareness, emotional growth, and a strong therapeutic relationship.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
DBT can be helpful when working with clients who are experiencing difficulties with emotional regulation, distress tolerance, impulsivity, interpersonal conflict, or chronic behavioral dysregulation.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
It can be beneficial to utilize CBT when working with clients because it is a structured, evidence-based approach that helps clients identify and change unhelpful thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that contribute to psychological distress.
