Hi, I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in San Antonio, TX. I am also a retired first responder. I help clients figure out what is keeping them stuck, frustrated or unhappy in their lives. I focus on stress, grief, self-care and trauma. I enjoy teaching individuals and groups about behavioral health, and have worked with clients that have substance use issues, PTSD, anxiety and depression. I always try to meet the client where they are and help them get where they want to be.
In our first session, we get to know each other and I can answer any questions or concerns you may have. I learn your story and what brought you to therapy. It's always individualized and tailored to your specific needs. We discuss and create a plan of action and I often give you reference material or further assessments to begin the therapy process.
My greatest strength as a provider is that I listen and I can connect the dots. I have experienced a great deal of life and empathize with my clients. I know the right questions to ask, to help them connect their dots as well.
I enjoy working with first responders and anyone under stress that wants a better quality of life. Sometimes work, or other priorities, takes the lead and clients lose track of what is really important to them. We work together to get things back in balance. I help clients address grief and trauma with Cognitive Processing Therapy, and a trauma informed approach.
CPT is a research based treatment for PTSD. I have used it with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse as well as other traumatic events both in childhood and adulthood.
CBT is my primary treatment method. I help clients figure out what their thoughts and beliefs are (cognitive) in order to alter or adjust their behaviors in a positive way. My experience has been that we often have negative beliefs about ourselves and the world around us that affect our daily lives. With a small shift in thinking we can change our lives in big ways.
Trauma informed care is a given with all my clients. Everyone has experienced traumatic events in some form or another. I aim to be sensitive to each client's needs and build a safe environment for healing.
Mindfulness is helpful with my clients who have anxiety, depression, stress, grief, and trauma. I help clients to create their own mindfulness plan so that they are able to recognize and work through struggles in real time in a way that works for them.
