I’m Phillip, a therapist dedicated to helping people grow a life they can feel proud of—often while navigating heavy pressure. I do this work to express my passion for supporting others as they untangle complex expectations and cultivate a value-fueled, authentic life. I understand first hand the struggle to 'be successful' while also exploring the answers to 'who am I?' As the son of Chinese immigrants from Mexico, raised in Mississippi, I personally understand the challenge of living between cultures and the "liminal spaces" where identity can feel uncertain.
I am a licensed mental health therapist and have been practicing for over 22 years. Quality of care over quantity has always been my goal and desire. I enjoy seeing people grow and flourish in life by developing positive energy and motivation from sessions. I have had extensive training in CBT and Trauma Focused CBT. Working with people from different cultural backgrounds as well as age categories excites me and helps me to expand my knowledge on how to better be of assistance to others. You can find additional information on my website at www.statewideserenitycounseling.com.

I want my clients to feel that they have accomplished or overcome something during their time in therapy. Note I do charge for No show and Late Cancellations $70.00
I am an LPC offering therapy to children, teens and adults. I believe it very important to understand how our past shapes and influences our present choices. I believe we see and relate to the world the way we were shaped from an early age. Knowing who we are and how we see and perceive the world helps us understand and relate better to ourselves and others.

Shelena is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. She has worked in the field of mental health for 10 years and in private practice for the past 5 years. She has experience working with individuals, couples, and families. She received her BA in Psychology with a minor in Chemistry and her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She loves working with individuals to help them reframe negative thinking and behaviors. She utilizes treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and Reality Therapy. She believes that given the right tools we all can become the best version of ourselves.
Trauma hurts. It can be sudden, life-altering and overwhelming, or chronic, subtle and nearly unnoticeable, but either way it can change the way we think about others, the world, and unfortunately, ourselves. Dealing with the aftermath—changes in our relationships, lashing out toward self or others, feeling nothing and/or everything all at once—is sometimes as hard as the initial event, especially when society, friends and family and our own minds tell us to “just get over it.” Worse, sometimes we aren’t even sure where the trauma came from in the first place, leaving us confused and even feeling hopeless. If you could just “get over it,” you would, but sometimes the brain simply cannot process traumatic events without help, and this is why trauma therapy exists. :)
I'm an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in Texas. I've been in practice for nearly 15 years and have been doing EMDR therapy for 13 of those. I specialize in helping teens and adults process trauma of all kinds. My goal is to help my clients gain the skills needed to process and adapt to traumatic memories, and then allow them to do so in a safe environment. I teach them how to build boundaries and follow through, and to treat themselves with self-compassion rather than judgment and harsh expectations.
Trauma doesn’t have to ruin (or run) your life. If you’re hurting, please know I’d be happy to help in any way I can.

My journey into the world of counseling was sparked by a simple belief: everyone carries the potential to lead a fulfilling life, and sometimes, all we need is a guiding hand to help illuminate our path. I believe in the resilience of the human spirit. Life can throw us challenges, often unexpected, but with understanding, patience, and guidance, we can overcome anything. My role is not just as a counselor but as a fellow traveler on the path to self-discovery.

I’m often looking for "the funny" in the moment and the world around me. I greatly enjoy sarcasm, snark, and satire. I'm fairly casual but have been told I "Clean up well", and clients have told me in the past they appreciate that I do not come across as "stuffy".
I daydream of going on cruises with my wife, occasionally think about bringing our children along. I treasure a long nap in a hammock, and I love movies. Once upon a time I even submitted a short film to the Cannes Film Festival (wasn't selected) but I did enter.
Clinically, I work with a foundation of Solution Focus and Systemic Therapy, with attributes of Narrative, Structural and/or Strategic.

Additionally, court-mandated evaluations, divorce or custody agreement related paperwork would be out of the scope of my practice, therefore is not something I engage in at this time.

Together, we explore identity changes, emotional stress, and the pressures of caregiving, creating space for clarity, healing, and a stronger connection to self. //Trabajo con madres y personas cuidadoras (maestras y profesionales) que apoyan a niños — que pueden sentirse abrumadas, agotadas o inseguras de quiénes son mientras cuidan de otros. I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker, in Michigan, with over 20 years of experience as a mental health provider. I serve clients by helping them address various stressors such as anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationships, trauma, health complications, drug use, incarceration, as well as overall life challenges related that were both expected and unexpected.
Respect, empathy, positive regard, as well as faith in God and people are foundational to the services I provide.
I provide mental health support, based on best practices, to help clients resolve dilemmas and challenges that impacts their mental and emotional health. The challenges they face can be related to the past, present or future. My clients report they feel very comfortable talking to me and that services directly addresses their concerns and helps them to resolve their issues.
My goal is to empower my clients so that they have lifelong skills that supports them, now and in the future, if they should ever have any challenges again.
My method is non-judgmental, friendly, yet professional, rooted in evidence based, best practices.
I'll help you resolve your issues based on your life goals and values. Services will be practical, relevant, effective and tailored to your needs.
My therapy style is warm and engaging. I don't embrace judgment, fear-based tactics or condemning others. I believe in providing unconditional positive regard, yet accountability, while helping you to move forward in pursuit of a high-quality life. My approach combines solution focused, client based, dialectical and cognitive-behavior therapy and can be psychodynamic.
