My name is Shavone Marie Williams-Moss, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I entered the field of social work largely because of my family background; I was raised by a single father while my mother struggled with substance abuse and mental health issues and could not perform her role as a parent. One day as an adult in my 20's, I saw my mother sitting on a bench on the main street in Kentucky. I welcomed her into my home only to discover she not only suffered from homelessness but bipolar disorder, major depression, and substance abuse. My mother lived with me for a year, after which she passed away. This situation made me wonder, what if, in her younger years, she would have met someone who was supportive, understanding, kind, selfless, and invested in helping her be the best version of her, she could be. It was then that I decided to enter the Social Work Field. I wanted to provide help to those who could not help themselves and aid to those in need.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if this is your first time. Whether we meet in person or online, you can expect a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment. Our first session is simply about getting to know each other and making sure we are a good fit. Many people worry they won’t know what to say, but therapy is really just a conversation between two people. After your first session, you may feel exposed, emotional, or vulnerable. This is a normal response to opening up about personal experiences. Some people even worry they are being judged after sharing their thoughts and feelings. Please know that therapy is a judgment-free space. My role is not to criticize or shame you, but to listen, understand, and support you. We are in this together. You do not have to have all the answers before you begin. Come as you are. My goal is to provide a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported as you take steps toward healing, growth, and emotional well-being.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

I prefer to tailor my treatment approach to the client. I often like to utilize Solution focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also like to integrate the different therapies if needed. You may have occasional skills assignments given to practice at home or be asked to keep a log of your week, depending on treatment focus.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My biggest strengths are Goal Setting and life coaching. If you struggle with setting goals and accomplishing them, need someone to help you set goals and hold you accountable, having a hard time adapting to life challenges. I will help guide and inspire you to achieve more of your personal and professional goals. Clients have told me that I am a great listener, great support and I inspire them to overcome daily struggles.

Per Ms. Williams-Moss or as I like to call her Doc, I never thought getting better was possible, but I was determined to do the work to get there. Doc, has always allowed me a safe space to be myself, speak freely with no judgement. I have felt seen, heard, and understood. I’m thankful to have her.
