I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist licensed in Texas and Florida, with over 17 years’ experience in the profession. I have provided Individual Therapy as well as Couples' and Family sessions. I primarily work from a Solution Focus perspective with a foundation in systemic thinking. Additionally, I've been a Licensed Supervisor for over 10 years, while also an AAMFT Approved Supervisor Mentor.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is an introduction and overview of therapy in general as well as to how I approach sessions and my personality. A chance to share as much as you feel comfortable with, giving us a beginning point and a general direction for the following sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe that one strength I provide, is that despite having over 17 years of experience, I understand that simply because I have experience does not mean I know everything. I will never know you as well as you do, and since you are the expert on yourself, listening to you is important. I do not know everything, so I ask you to tell me when I misunderstand something or if I am wrong. I'm comfortable with being told I'm wrong, I have two daughters, and they let me know I'm wrong daily. Additionally, over the years several clients have commented on how they have appreciated my sense of humor, and that while not everything or every moment is funny, a sense of humor has been helpful in balancing out the serious nature and intensity of the work.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I appreciate and enjoy working with anyone that has decided to engage in the therapy process, understanding that this is not always a comfortable experience. I became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, because I enjoy relational counseling, being in session with couples and families, helping everyone involved to learn and grow, so that relationships can get better. Even during tough and tense sessions, I appreciate the effort and how it isn't easy to be real and in the moment to work through the muck of bad days and relationship issue. Regarding working with Individuals, I've enjoyed working with young professionals adjusting to new norms while trying to find who they are, as well as older adults who have hit rough patches or felt "stuck" with life as they know it, whether that's work, their relationships, or the world as a whole. Being a part of the process and working towards growing and finding better, is an amazing experience.

My treatment methods

Couples Counseling

Working with couples to improve communication within the relationship. Learning about each other's needs and the skills to meet each other's needs. This may include helping couples identify if they are an Angry Duck or a Misunderstood Platypus, learning to evolve from the golden rule to the Platinum Rule, as well as the unique time out process Bubbles and Jazz Hands.

Family Therapy

When it comes to parenting work, I often use Structural and Strategic theories. One approach for addressing parental concerns is the Parent Co. model, applying aspects of business organizational concepts and practices towards meeting the structural and strategic goals of modern families.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

While an ideal and immediate resolution would be great, it often isn't possible, instead of looking for the perfection solution, we work on sorting through the millions of options and taking a step closer to the ultimate goal, instead of waiting.

Structural Family Therapy

Known for addressing parental concerns via the Parent Co. model, applying aspects of business organizational concepts and practices towards meeting the structural and strategic goals of modern families.
