My name is Amber (#TheUrbanConsciousTherapist)
I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical, graduating from Morgan State University with my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Social Work. I have experience supporting and working with children, adolescents, and adults who have encountered crises and trauma(s) and those dealing with depression, anxiety, high stress, transitions, grief, relationship problems, women’s issues, and race-gender schema (Strong Black Girl/Woman expectations).
Do you feel overwhelmed these days? Are you constantly trying to strike a balance between the demands of work and parenting or co-parenting, while also managing your health, housework, and perhaps other demands? In your family, does the caretaking always fall to you? Are you experiencing depression and anxiety in reaction to either a past trauma and/or burnout from stress? I work with women who are experiencing what I like to call "multiple-role fatigue". I have experience in treating depression, anxiety, and trauma-related stress disorders common to women who face an ever-mounting load of responsibilities in a complex society, where being a mother or a caretaker often comes with diverse challenges and responsibilities. I also like to work with clients on their recovery from trauma. With this in mind, I incorporate various treatment modalities, where healing and recovery can take place through a combination of compassionate conversation, active listening, homework assignments journaling, mindfulness, self-reflection, cognitive behavior therapy, grief counseling, boundary setting and trauma-informed care. I also offer a faith-based support, where clients seeking a Christian approach are welcome.
I like to form a supportive alliance with caregivers to help them navigate the demands of parenting a child or children with higher needs. I focus on parental needs, and I work with clients using evidence-based techniques to empower them to achieve balance and experience lasting well-being. For parents, I'm a big advocate of self-care, and I help my clients learn to nurture themselves in a sustainable way to avoid burnout. I also believe that parents need to feel seen and heard, and the stress of parenting cannot be overemphasized. Forming a partnership with parents, giving them a forum in which they feel consistently supported in a compassionate and non-judgmental way, therefore, is one of my top priorities as a therapist.

My background includes working in school settings, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, and outpatient clinics. Before specializing in mental health, I spent 6 years working with children and families in the area of Health and Human Development.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from the Pennsylvania State University and a
Master of Science in Education with a focus on Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania.
I'm a grateful and spiritually oriented counselor who loves his work. I've a passion for helping people who have been mistreated, and those who are in a love relationship that is struggling due to life stress and in need of solid relationship education. Not much is life as valuable as the primary relationships of our life, and the discovery of how to find the answers to the big questions of life.
I am licensed therapist with trauma certification, offering extensive expertise in various approaches. I have worked in many settings, including the emergency room, state agencies, behavioral hospitals, and homeless shelters. With experience spanning age ranges from 5 to 90, I am dedicated in addressing clients’ unique concerns. Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 22 years of experience. I really enjoy helping people navigate the challenges of changing and maintaining roles in life---exploring young adulthood, how to maintain your own identity as a parent, how to create a life worth living in whatever stage you are in. I feel like I am very open, non judgmental, eager to learn, empathetic and understanding. And funny!
I am a gender affirming therapist. I am an ally in the LGB and TNC Communities, always keeping my eyes and ears open to find ways to improve my allyship. The current political climate is traumatic and oppressive to members of these Communities. I want to create space in session to discuss how that may be affecting you or retraumatizing you. I am also a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. I am comfortable providing documentation for medical transition.
I am very comfortable with working with those who use self harm as a coping mechanism--there is no shame or expectation you must stop when you engage in therapy. I'm fine with talking about suicide, whether it's your own personal experience of trying to find a life worth living, your experience of supporting someone who lives with suicide in their life, or grief around experiences of suicide. I do not believe inpatient hospitalization is an effective treatment for those experiencing suicide and do everything I can as a therapist to keep people out of the hospital when in suicidal crisis.
I do believe therapy is political. I am social justice focused, continuing to do my own anti-racism work. I believe in Health at Every Size. I believe that our environment and what we experience in life has a profound affect on us and must be discussed in therapy.
I’m Crissy Miyake, a licensed clinical psychologist who understands the benefit of therapy and the difficulty in asking for help. Specializing in anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma recovery, my initial priority is always to create an interaction that feels authentic, safe, and welcoming.
Former clients have described me as “down to earth,” warm, and direct. Sessions together will be an active collaboration and our conversations will be a mixture of guided topic discussion, structured discovery, and fluid exploration. I also naturally incorporate humor and often recommend resources (readings, worksheets, podcasts, etc.) to reinforce the work in between sessions.
I have been working with individuals struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder, substance use, sexual addiction, and mental health challenges for the past ten years. I have a real heart to walk alongside you to encourage, support, and empower you to move forward in your recovery needs. I graduated from Liberty University in 2014 with an MA in Professional Counseling and completed a Doctoral program specializing in treating trauma-related challenges. I approach recovery through the eyes of motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral therapy. I am also trained in EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy.
I am Nancy Malwitz, a Licensed Professional Counselor and I am always looking for ways to help others achieve their goals for growth and resolution of problematic issues in their lives. I spent many years working as a retail manager and learned many things about human behaviors and how to resolve conflict and help mentor and teach others about many life experiences that they may have. I approach issues and concerns with directness and open-minded, outside of the box thinking in order to help those who are seeking guidance for the concerns they have about their lives. I feel that often people have the capacity to find solutions that are good for their journey and to be able to make connections that enhance those capabilities in their own lives. I am someone who can come alongside you in helping find those pathways and answers to the questions that you may have about your own life, due to the journey that I have taken in my own experiences and life lived.

With over 18 years of experience, I provide a comprehensive, evidence-based therapeutic approach for individuals facing substance use disorders and mental health challenges. I have worked with adolescents, adults, families, and couples, tailoring treatment to their unique needs and fostering personal growth and long-term recovery.
As the former owner of a partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment facility for mental health and substance use disorders, I played a pivotal role in supporting families, conducting individual and group therapy, and ensuring clients received appropriate treatment placements. My work has extended beyond clinical practice, including serving as an expert witness for the Montgomery County Grand Jury on opioid epidemic matters and delivering mental health and addiction education to churches, synagogues, and schools.
Integrating Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) into my practice has further enhanced my ability to implement structured, evidence-based interventions for addiction, mental health conditions, and autism spectrum disorder. My goal is to make therapy an empowering experience where clients gain insight and leave each session with solutions that continue to resonate and evolve.

Hello, and welcome! My introduction to the counseling field began while working within therapeutic group homes that served children through adults experiencing mental health struggles. This experience, both enriching and meaningful, inspired my interest in pursuing counseling. I was deeply moved by the varying degrees of challenging life experiences that we are all tasked with navigating and the ways we attempt to cope, gain insight from, and hopefully transform our adverse circumstances. I received my Master of Social Work degree from Portland State University and since, I’ve had the opportunity to assist a diverse range of clients in both inpatient treatment and outpatient therapy settings, and more recently, at a college counseling clinic at the University of Montana. Within these programs, I’ve helped clients address anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, academic challenges, relationships, identity changes, sexuality, and general life stressors.
I am grateful that I can work to help individuals navigate the evolving nature of their lives by providing unconditional positive regard, encouragement, and supportive guidance.

My name is Graham Maxey. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1983, after graduating from the University of Houston/Clear Lake with a Master of Arts in Behavioral Science. I had noticed for many years that the primary problems people experienced in life were mainly due to living in a space of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that were "too small" to accommodate their well-being or their enjoyment in living. My goal as a counselor has always been to help clients "widen" the spaces they live in and let them have fuller access to all that their lives actually can provide for them.
