Hi! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Pittsburgh, PA. I am licensed in Pennsylvania, Colorado, and Washington State. I received my Master's in Community Counseling from Regis University in Denver, CO in 2012, and I have been working as a therapist in different capacities since that time. My areas of focus have been LGBTQIA+ clients, older adults, working in crisis assessment, intake assessment, and individual and partners therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In my first session with clients, I do three things. First, I listen. I hear from them what it is that has inspired them to commit to taking this first step. I think this is really important. Secondly, I discuss with clients what their past experiences of therapy have been like- what has worked, what hasn't, and if they are new to therapy- what style of therapy would best fit their needs. With this we can customize a plan that works and makes their time and commitment worth it for them. Finally, I always leave time at the end of the first session for clients to ask me anything about myself or my practice that they feel would make our work together more beneficial for them. This is based in my commitment to Feminist-based psychotherapy, where the experience should be a shared space of power.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I think my greatest strengths are that I am human and I promote a sense of warmth and comfort in my style that helps people to feel safe to open up over time. I also have gained a lot of tools in my bag over the years, by talking with other clients- hearing their stories and working through their issues. With this experience, I can hear the client's approaches and strategies, and also share some that I have gained.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I have been using this model for many years and have had great results with my clients. My main focus in ACT is condensing it into a "Life Map" which helps clients to know there values or what they "accept", related better to their emotions and internal experiences, and make informed choices about how they response and react. All of this is done through the power of noticing.

Feminist

The feminist model is the theoretical foundation of my practice. This model emphasizes that distress and dysfunction originate from an imbalance of power. With that in mind, in this we work to bring awareness to power and work toward equilibrium of it.
