Hi, I am so glad you have decided to take a step in healing from your past. I specialize in working with people who grew up in families where there was some type of instability or turmoil. This could have been from addiction, mental health, abuse, neglect, anger, poverty, foster care placement, religious trauma or anything that caused some form of trauma. Oftentimes times those who grew up in this type of situation feel responsible for it or that somehow they should have fixed it.

I specialize in treating anxiety disorders, panic, chronic worry, stress, and burnout using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based approaches. I also work with clients experiencing depression, trauma-related symptoms, and life transitions that feel overwhelming or hard to manage alone. In my practice, this means we focus on both understanding what’s happening in this moment and identifying patterns that no longer serve you. Depending on your needs, I may also integrate mindfulness-based strategies, trauma-informed care, behavioral activation, and attachment-focused interventions to support deeper emotional healing and stability. My approach focuses on building real-life tools to help you feel more steady, confident, and in control. It is structured, supportive, and collaborative. CBT is a major focus of my work, meaning we identify thought patterns, emotional responses, and behavioral cycles that keep anxiety, depression and low self esteem going—and actively work to change them in practical ways.

I work with adults who may look like they have things together on the outside but internally feel anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or simply exhausted from carrying everything on their own. You may be dealing with anxiety, relationship difficulties, grief or loss, major life changes, identity concerns, work stress, or just the feeling that something in your life needs to change. My approach is warm, straightforward, and down-to-earth. Therapy with me is a real conversation—not a clinical interrogation or a place where you have to say the “right” thing. We’ll work together to understand what’s happening, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop practical ways to move forward. I also incorporate evidence-based approaches, including CBT, while tailoring therapy to the person in front of me. You won’t get a one-size-fits-all approach. My goal is for you to leave sessions feeling understood, but also with greater clarity about yourself and where you want to go next. In addition to my therapy work, I also work as an ICU nurse, which has deeply influenced my perspective on stress, trauma, and the complexity of being human. That experience allows me to bring a grounded, compassionate, and realistic understanding of life’s pressures into the therapy room. Outside of work, I value quiet, restorative time. I enjoy working out, staying active, and taking care of my own well-being. I love spending time at home with my husband and our pets, and I’m a big fan of unwinding with a good movie. I believe balance, connection, and moments of calm are essential — not just luxuries — and I often help clients explore how to build more of that into their own lives.

I have an LPC and an LMFT and have been seeing clients since 1996. I have extensive training in helping people who are going through or have experienced narcissistic abuse and any form of childhood trauma, this includes verbal and emotional abuse, family addictions, or any early childhood experience that would cause one to feel unsafe. I am also experienced in the treatment of anxiety, worry and mood concerns and work with addictions, obsessive compulsive behaviors and any poor coping skills or core beliefs that were developed in order to manage these stressors. I use practices primarily focused on somatic and cognitive therapy but also utilize acceptance commitment therapy, internal family systems, mindfulness and am solution focused. I use homework and assignments aimed at regulating the nervous system in order to repair the fight/flight/freeze response that is often stuck on due to a continuous history of a variety of life stressors (trauma). This trapped and stored trauma continues to trigger the nervous system to respond in ways where we continue to feel unsafe, even after the threats have passed. By working with the nervous system to release this trapped trauma and find safety, we can then have the opportunity to respond to the world differently.

I started my career in human services at Northeast Treatment Centers in Philadelphia, PA where, over the course of 7 years, I worked as Youth Advocate for adjudicated adolescents, lead clinician for a community-based treatment team and outpatient therapist. After becoming a licensed psychotherapist in 2014, I worked as an outpatient therapist for multiple companies in the Philadelphia area where I helped clients manage or overcome symptoms related to anxiety, stress, trauma, depression and more. My therapeutic approach is strongly rooted in humanistic psychology. As described in an article from the Association for Humanistic Psychology, this approach offers a "crucial opportunity to lead our troubled culture back to its own healthy path. More than any other therapy, Humanistic-Existential therapy models democracy. It imposes ideologies of others upon the client less than other therapeutic practices. Freedom to choose is maximized. We validate our client's human potential."

Hello and welcome to my practice. I work exclusively with people in their 20s through their 30s. Please disregard the platform, which is programmed for Age Groups 18 - 64. This stage of life can bring many questions about direction, purpose and relationships. Together, we'll facilitate how you want to show up in the world. Perhaps you're feeling stuck, unsure of your next step, or noticing patterns that no longer serve you. Together, we’ll take time to explore what’s getting in the way of the life you want to live. Psychotherapy is a space where you can show up, be your authentic self, slow down, reflect, and begin to experience yourself in a setting to realize yourself. Our conversations will focus on how you relate to your thoughts, feelings, body and the people around you as well as to the broader world. By paying close attention to your speech, we can begin to grasp patterns and themes that are facilitating you to flourish and those that are keeping you stuck. There are times in all our lives when things just do not seem to be working for us anymore. During these difficult times, it is helpful to have support and guidance by a trained professional. I see psychotherapy as a process of discovery between two people that can yield great personal growth and transformation. My name is Dr. Alair Altiero and I aim to promote a safe, supportive and trusting psychotherapeutic relationship that facilitates the exploration of areas of difficulty, hurt, and vulnerability. I work to guide my clients to have insights into their own unproductive behaviors from new perspectives, have increased confidence, and gain self-acceptance. I ask probing questions and point out inconsistencies while providing feedback, advice, insights, and observations. I have 15+ years of experience helping people from varied backgrounds with a range of challenges. I specialize in assisting people overcome depression and anxiety, change repeated unproductive behaviors, cope with medical problems, work with and through the emotional journey associated with grief/loss and improve their relationships with others. I know that reaching out for help can be hard, and that many people put it off for a long time. However, I believe that you owe it to yourself (and the people you love) to take this first step toward a happier, peaceful and meaningful life.

For many years, I worked as a retail manager, where I gained valuable insight into human behavior, conflict resolution, and the importance of mentoring others through life's challenges. Those experiences taught me that every person has a unique story, and with the right support and perspective, they can discover the strength and wisdom they already possess. I approach each person with honesty, compassion, an open mind, and a willingness to think outside the box. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, I believe in helping people uncover the answers that align with their own journey, empowering them to recognize their strengths and make meaningful connections that foster growth and healing. My role is to walk alongside you as you navigate life's questions and challenges. Drawing from both my professional background and my own lived experiences, I strive to provide guidance, encouragement, and a safe space where you can gain clarity, build confidence, and move forward with purpose.

I work alongside you, guiding and supporting your journey with an approach tailored to your needs, and your feedback is invaluable for productive sessions. In our sessions, you will find a compassionate and non-judgmental space where your thoughts and feelings are valued. My goal is to support you as we work together to uncover insights, develop coping strategies, and empower you to live the life you desire. Please note, the first session you schedule will be a 30 minute "intake" appointment. This will serve as a consultation to evaluate our fitness as client and provider. Your insurance will not be billed and you will not be charged for this as it is not considered a clinical service. Thank you!

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for around 15 years. I am grateful to have found this career because it is my passion. I have mostly worked in the mental health field but also have a few years of experience in drug and alcohol counseling. I can also provide information, education and support from the drug and alcohol field along with my knowledge and training in the mental health field. I hope to create a safe, comfortable, laid-back space where you are able to talk about the day or talk about the harder topics and know it all stays with me only. My style of counseling is having a purposeful conversation where I can suggest new ways to cope or new ways to understand yourself and/or others.
