New to Grow
Hi there! I'm assuming you made it to my page because life has gotten particularly difficult and you're searching for some sort of direction or confirmation that "you are not crazy for feeling that way". We are not crazy for feeling - and therapy can help assist you in understanding why some emotions are more difficult to feel than others. Recovery is about learning tolerance; not forgetting and dismissing your experiences. I am experienced in working in both outpatient offices and inpatient hospital settings where I support clients in addressing issues stemming from generational trauma, relationships, grief and loss, life adjustments, substance use / other addictions, anxiety, and serious mental illness. I view therapy as a process that requires learning about vulnerability and accountability and then applying both for results.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
You can expect a get-to-know-eachother conversation during your first session. You will have already completed your intake paperwork, and I will have reviewed it. You will have ongoing opportunity to elaborate on your therapeutic needs during our time together.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I rely heavily on honesty and choice as those are some of the greatest tools we have. You can expect our time to involve both humor and candid conversations.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
If you are someone who is struggling with codependency in relationships, wanting to say no but feeling like you cannot, or are navigating the healing process after a difficult relationship, I may be able to help you gain the skills and confidence to "take your life back".
Trauma Informed Care
Trauma Informed Care encompasses the difficult lived experiences of a person within the systems they navigate. TIC's goal is to help one understand the impact of their experiences, prevent re-traumatization, and to help improve one's functioning.
Attachment-based
Knowing your attachment style and history of such is an integral part of the therapeutic process as it informs how you navigate relationships with others and yourself.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
We all have lived experiences that have changed our perception of the world, others, and ourselves. It's important our perception lines up with what's truly happening in our environment. After all, our thoughts create feelings, and our feelings create behavior.
