I'm well-versed in a variety of disciplines due to what life has demanded of me for my own recovery and wellness. I have spent time as a personal trainer, mentor, musician, and professional counselor. Having both personally and professionally navigated the domains of physical, mental, and spiritual health, I'm of firm belief that a good clinician will address every aspect of person, and not reduce them to a collection of symptoms or confine them to a label.
It's my conviction that you can't teach what you don't know, so I've taken great care to prove to myself that my clinical expertise and training is validated by the road I've walked before I entered the field. I have a MA in Clinical Counseling from Ashland University, a BA in Theology from Malone University, PT certification from NASM, 12+ years sober, and 3+ years of professional counseling experience.
I’m a Licensed Independent Social Worker in Ohio, dedicated to helping children, teens, and young adults navigate life’s challenges with compassion and care. I specialize in supporting kids and adolescents (ages 8+) who have experienced trauma, as well as individuals of all ages who struggle with managing emotions or feel overwhelmed by life’s demands. While these areas are my focus, I welcome working with people from a wide range of backgrounds and needs.

I recognize that, while cognitive and behavioral work matters, so does the body and so do larger contexts of justice and injustice. Mindfulness and meditation are therefore integrated into care using the following modalities:
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy)
Trauma Informed Care
Mindfulness Practices

Life is a complex mix of beauty and messiness, and I believe that while time passes, true healing requires intention. Our experiences—from our earliest memories to the present—shape how we move through the world. I am here to help you gently navigate those layers, understanding how your past influences your present so you can intentionally reshape your future.
My Approach
I provide a safe, affirming, and non-judgmental space where you are always the expert on your own life. My practice blends:
Trauma-Informed & Strengths-Based Care: Honoring your history while focusing on your inherent resilience.
Practical Tools: Providing actionable skills you can use outside of our sessions to support your daily well-being.
Collaborative Growth: Whether you are navigating grief, trauma, or a major life transition, we will work together to build a path that reflects your unique needs.
The Goal
Together, we will work toward a future where you can hold compassion for your past, purpose in your present, and genuine hope for your future. You don’t have to find your footing alone.
Hi, I’m Sema—and I get it.
I know that when you’re going through a difficult time, it can feel like no one truly hears you. Sometimes, even well-meaning people try to “fix” things without fully understanding what you're going through. That’s why I aim to offer something different: a safe, judgment-free space where you feel genuinely heard.
My approach to therapy is rooted in compassion, connection, and collaboration. I believe in working alongside my clients to explore their thoughts and feelings, identify the core of their challenges, and build practical tools to manage and move through them. Together, we don’t just talk about the problem—we work toward healing, growth, and long-term resilience.
I earned my LMSW from Wayne State University in 2016 and have since supported individuals navigating a wide range of challenges including mental health concerns, grief and loss, substance use, complex family dynamics, and the emotional toll of physical health issues. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and integrative therapeutic techniques that help clients reframe negative thought patterns, develop coping strategies, and move toward becoming the best version of themselves.
You don't have to do this alone. I'm here to support you, listen to you and walk with you through whatever you're facing.
Being a therapist isn't just my career—it's a dream I worked hard to achieve because I know what it's like to walk through difficult seasons and wonder if things will ever feel different. My experiences taught me that healing is possible, and they shaped the kind of therapist I strive to be: the therapist I wish I had when I needed one most.
I believe every person has inherent worth, even when life has convinced them otherwise. Your past may explain where you've been, but it doesn't have to define where you're going. Healing and forgiveness can coexist, and growth is possible without pretending the pain never happened.
My role isn't to tell you who you should be—it's to help you rediscover who you are beneath the anxiety, trauma, self-doubt, or life circumstances that have made you question yourself. I'll meet you with honesty, compassion, and a little humor along the way because I believe therapy should feel like a safe place to be fully human.
I believe the only way to truly fail at becoming the person you were meant to be is to stop trying. Whether this is your first time in therapy or you're returning after a difficult experience, my hope is that you leave each session feeling seen, supported, and more hopeful than when you walked in.
I'm Sarah, a Licensed Independent Social Worker with specialized training in EMDR, perinatal mental health, Gottman couples therapy, infant mental health, and early childhood mental health. My goal is to create a space where you feel understood, empowered, and hopeful—a place where you feel like you.
Outside of the office, I'm a busy mother of two and fantasy author who loves baking and cooking!
I support people from all walks of life, including military, veterans, first responders, teens, adults, and seniors. I understand how overwhelming it can feel to reach out for help, and I want to support that first courageous step. I am a husband, and a father to three grown children. I have led youth groups with middle school and high schoolers. My wife and I have been through the foster care process and then adopted. I am familiar with Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD). I do not treat RAD but I do support parents and caregivers of children with this diagnosis. I worked as a counselor for ten years prior to licensure listening to people sharing their pain and challenges. After licensure I worked as a medical social worker with patients and family members of chronically ill before becoming a therapist.

I have experience in both mental health and addiction treatment. I truly love what I do! I like to bring a positive, solution-focused approach to therapy. I understand how hard it may be to take that first step to reach out for help. I want to hear your story and what has been going on with you so that you feel heard and supported. I provide education about how the brain and the body work together (and against each other at times!) Life can be overwhelming-you don't have to go through it alone. Let's get started today.
Hey there! :)
I'm a Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervisory distinction (LISW-S) based in central Ohio. I earned my MSW from The Ohio State University and have spent the past decade doing what I love most—helping people heal, grow, and thrive.
My journey began as a trauma specialist working with children in Treatment Foster Care and adoption in inner-city Columbus. At the same time, I supported children, young adults, and families in Worthington, Ohio, helping them find balance and connection in their daily lives. It was during this time that I discovered my passion for supporting parents—especially those navigating the emotional waves of infertility, anxiety, depression, self-esteem challenges, and the beautifully complex world of parenting.
These experiences sparked a deep commitment to working with women to identify their strengths, overcome barriers, and step fully into their potential. I find so much joy in connecting with people from all walks of life, and I've had the privilege of working in urban, suburban, and rural communities. My current practice—and my roots—are in the beautiful Appalachian foothills of Ohio.
Outside of the therapy room, I’m a proud animal lover, plant enthusiast, and people-person through and through. I believe in the power of humor, honesty, and human connection—and I’m here to walk alongside you, wherever you are in your journey.

I look forward to connecting with you and being part of your growth!
I believe that the client needs to express the issues and trauma that they have along with being given coping skills and tools to deal with the symptoms associated with their issues.
I believe in being proactive. I don’t want the client to think that I’m just there listening and nodding my head. I want them to know that this is a collaborative process and I’m in it with them to help them become with self and overcome any obstacles in their way.

I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker based in Ohio and have been in the field since 2013. I graduated from Miami University in 2013 with my bachelor's degree in psychology and worked as a case manager for a year, assisting adults with managing mental health symptoms. I also helped with medication management, and assisted with supporting them in daily living skills, before getting my master's degree in social work in 2016. Once I graduated with my Master's, I then worked at a community based correctional facility for 3 years as a mental health and addiction specialist. I completed diagnostic assessments and facilitated individual and group therapy sessions for mental health and addiction. From there, I began working at an inpatient behavioral health hospital and assisted patients there with acute mental health needs and helped to provide referrals for outpatient treatment. Since 2020, I have been working with clients doing individual therapy and have been growing my private practice. I find it rewarding to be able to work with clients long-term and get to know them as a person while meeting each individual where they are; what their struggles are, what their successes are, see progress they make in different areas of their lives, and develop a rapport that is respectful and supportive. I have been able to gain a great deal of experience over my 13 years with a very diverse background through promotion and advancement, in the mental health field, and those experiences help me to navigate my therapeutic approach to assist with being able to better serve clients while we are working together.

I specialize in working with individuals who feel emotionally overwhelmed, stuck in survival mode, or exhausted from carrying the weight of everything on their own. Many of the clients I work with are high-functioning on the outside while silently struggling internally with anxiety, unresolved trauma, burnout, people-pleasing, self-doubt, or emotional exhaustion. Others come to therapy after years of feeling misunderstood, emotionally disconnected, or unable to fully move forward despite trying everything they can to “just cope.” My goal is to help clients move beyond simply surviving and begin feeling more grounded, confident, connected, and emotionally at peace. I am EMDR-trained and have extensive experience treating complex trauma and PTSD. In addition to trauma work, I frequently help clients struggling with panic attacks, chronic stress, mood disorders, relationship difficulties, emotional regulation, grief and loss, and substance use concerns. I utilize evidence-based approaches including EMDR, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness-based interventions, Solution-Focused Therapy, and strengths-based treatment tailored to each client’s individual needs. My background includes work in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, residential substance use treatment, outpatient mental health, school-based therapy, couples counseling, and telehealth. Working across these settings has given me experience supporting clients through both crisis situations and long-term personal growth.
Clients often describe me as down-to-earth, supportive, direct, and easy to talk to. Therapy does not require you to have everything figured out before you begin. You only need a starting point, and together we can work toward meaningful and lasting change.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process where you should feel comfortable being yourself without judgement. My goal is to create a safe supportive space where you feel heard, understood and respected. We will collaborate on your treatment and at the pace that feels comfortable for you. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, stress, a major life change, or simply feeling stuck in life. We will work at your pace to reach your mental health goals. I enjoy working with clients from diverse backgrounds including being an LGBTQ+ ally and affirming.
