Hi! I'm Sarah! I use a laid-back and genuine approach to therapy. I believe in coming across to my client's as trustworthy, "real", and knowledgeable. Therefore, while I will use evidence-based practices to hold you accountable and encourage healing, I also connect with you as a real person with real life examples. Sessions will hold sarcasm, peace, comfort, and healing.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Though future sessions focus on you and your preferences, the initial session we have to get through the nitty griddy. I try to make this as light, relaxed, and nonrobotic as possible. We'll go through policies and my background and then I'll gather information about you and your background.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I'm the therapist that gets the referrals for client's who want "someone who will hold them accountable". I believe I have a strength in recognizing the patterns that lead to maladaptive behavior or situations. I also think my ability to connect with client's on a personal level and not "robotic" is rare and appreciated.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal client is self-motivated and ready to change. They can be light and appreciate sarcasm while also getting serious with the heavy when needed. My ideal client is ready to understand themselves and how to begin a new life!
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use a problem solving approach with clients. After understanding what led to the problem and finding acceptance and understanding, we tackle the big picture: how to cope and move forward.
EMDR
This is used in order to understand past traumas, gaining insight and acceptance into ones past in order to create a new, empowered mindset.
