My name is Jessica Scales and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC # 10501) in North Carolina. I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP). I have been counseling for over 13 years, with children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 18-30) being my specialty areas. I enjoy helping younger children make sense of the world around them and figure out how to navigate the big emotions they experience daily. With adolescents, I feel it is important to make them feel heard and have a safe space to process past or present trauma, peer-related issues, family stressors, and personal changes and emotions. For young adults, it is important for them to have a safe space to explore life transitions and the emotional and mental stressors or effects that may accompany these changes. I believe in working with each individual in a holistic way, considering all areas of their lives: emotional, physical, spiritual, familial support, personal, environmental, financial, and social. I utilize interventions based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing while incorporating play-based care, faith-based care, and Expressive Arts techniques. The counseling space is the space for individuals to feel safe, heard, and able to process any life circumstances, big or small, without judgment and with unconditional positive regard. I intend to create this safe space for healing and each individual's counseling journey.

Hi, my name is Eva. I have been practicing in the mental health and substance-abuse field for almost 30 years and during that time I have come to learn a lot about what it takes to help a person move from one place to another and it has also taught me how to move from one place to another so that I too can live my best life . I believe that we all need help from time to time and someone to help us see clearly when we have difficulty seeing things clearly ourselves. My best practice of therapy is being eclectic, which means in simple terms that I use whatever technique I need to to reach my client wherever they are at. This includes all best practices that are evidence-based to work with women, young adults, men and children who all have a common need to feel heard and supported. I specialize in a variety of treatment modalities that include trauma, substance abuse, anxiety/ depression, and other mood/mental disorders, and I desire to help all my clients improve their current life situation so that they can begin to live their best lives.

Kudos to you for recognizing the need to focus on your overall well-being including your mental health. At the beginning of therapy many individuals often feel overwhelmed with various emotions, especially talking to a stranger about their concerns. I seek to make my clients feel welcomed and heard by working with them to identify past and present life events and the impact they have on their interactions internally and externally. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore obstacles with concerns related to anxiety, depression, and/or self-care. I focus on helping clients develop assertive communication & boundaries with themselves and those around them that can help improve their quality of life. Counseling sets the stage for self-awareness, healing, grieving, feeling empowered which can lead to change and growth. What you allow will continue, and change is a personal choice. If you’re ready to challenge yourself and create the life you want, I look forward to working with you.

These times are urgent. Let us slow down.” ― Bayo Akomolafe Let's take things one breath at a time, slowing down instead of rushing through the hard parts. I don’t believe in fixing or solving everything all at once in the hopes it does not reoccur. Instead, I offer space for curiosity, vulnerability, and connection, because that’s often where healing begins. Together we’ll practice being with your experiences, not just getting past them. I work with people facing all kinds of mental health and personal life challenges, and I especially love helping clients untangle old patterns and build new ones that feel more like them. My approach is relational and HUMOROUS, humanistic, honest, warm, and collaborative. I work mostly with teens and adults. Outside of therapy, I’m usually testing a new hairstyle, thrifting, listening to Afrobeats, or walking my dachshund, Winston-Bishop.

On the outside, it may look like you're managing everything. On the inside, you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or surrounded by people but still feel completely alone. If you're reading this and thinking, "This sounds like me," you're exactly who I hoped to reach. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, burnout, relationship challenges, and life transitions. While those experiences may bring you to therapy, I believe our struggles don't happen in isolation. They often develop within the context of our relationships, experiences, and the roles we've learned to play. Together, we'll become curious about those patterns, question the expectations you've learned to carry, and decide which roles still fit the life you're trying to build and which you've outgrown. Therapy can be a place to set some of that weight down and reconnect with yourself. It can be life changing to give yourself permission not to fit neatly into predefined boxes.

Hello, and welcome. I am Dr. Samuel Hickson, PhD, LCSW, a licensed psychotherapist, neuropsychotherapist, clinical researcher, educator, and healthcare consultant dedicated to providing evidence-based psychotherapy for adults. My practice is built on the belief that healing begins with understanding ourselves, rebuilding trust, and developing the resilience needed to navigate life's challenges with confidence and purpose. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, healthcare-related stress, identity transitions, chronic illness adjustment, grief, and major life changes. My therapeutic approach integrates neuropsychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and strengths-based practices to create individualized treatment plans that are both compassionate and grounded in scientific research. My professional background extends beyond traditional psychotherapy. With over 14 years of healthcare experience, a PhD in Human Behavior, an MBA focused on Corporate Social Responsibility, and extensive work in clinical research and behavioral health, I bring a multidisciplinary perspective that bridges neuroscience, psychology, healthcare systems, and organizational well-being. This allows me to understand not only the emotional challenges my clients face but also the broader healthcare, workplace, and life circumstances that influence mental health. In addition to psychotherapy, I provide professional consultation in risk management, clinical documentation, quality improvement, standards of care, and behavioral health operations for healthcare organizations and private practices. Whether you are seeking support during a difficult transition or looking to strengthen resilience and reconnect with your values, my goal is to provide a collaborative, respectful, and affirming therapeutic environment where meaningful, lasting change can occur. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and in case you’re unsure of what that is, it means I have earned a Bachelor Degree in Social Work a Master of Social Work and once I completed Graduate school I was then required to complete 3,000 hours of clinical work experience under supervision for another two years after those supervised clinical hours I had to successfully sit for ASWB Clinial Level exam. Being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker not only means that I am passionate about Mental Health, but I am also focused on your environment, meaning I look at external factors that impact your situation. When I started Graduate School, I went in with the notion of studying Psychology until I came across the Social Work Program, after doing some extensive research into the profession, I decided that is what I wanted to do. I learned I can help individuals with their Mental Health as well as take a holistic approach to address any barriers they may face while working towards their goals. I absolutely LOVE being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and helping individuals reach goals they’ve set for themselves.

You may have experienced therapy before and know what it is like to have a space to talk. My work offers something a little different. I work with women who are often the ones others depend on the mothers, caregivers, professionals, helpers, and women who have learned how to keep things moving even when they are carrying a lot themselves. You do not have to be in crisis to want therapy. You may be grieving, navigating a major life transition, feeling overwhelmed or anxious, questioning what no longer fits, or simply wanting a space where nothing is being asked of you. As a Black woman and therapist, I am especially intentional about creating space for Black women and other women of color to speak freely without having to translate or minimize their experiences. You do not need to arrive with everything figured out. We can begin with where you are.

Hello and welcome! I’m Michelle, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with more than 20 years of experience working in the field of behavioral health. I was drawn to counseling by a curiosity about human behavior—how our thoughts, relationships, and life experiences shape the way we see ourselves and the world. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Austin Peay State University and a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. I’m licensed in North Carolina (LCMHC), Tennessee (LPC), Kentucky (LPCC-S), and Georgia (LPC). Throughout my career, I’ve learned that there is always more to a person’s story than what we first see. I bring that understanding to each session, listening with compassion, curiosity, and respect. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stress, burnout, or a life transition, you don’t have to sort through it alone. My approach is warm and supportive, with honest conversations and thoughtful challenges. I’ll meet you with understanding while encouraging accountability as you grow. I am a very avid listener and I feel that listening is very important when assisting my clients and helps identify their feelings and thoughts on things so that I can identify ways that I can be of assistance in helping to work through and/or address these issues and/or concerns.

My name is Janet Muta and I am a Licensed Clinician with over 17 years of experience in mental health, behavioral issues and relationships. I treat individuals from diverse backgrounds. My approach is treating the whole person because most of the time our problems are the outcome of more than just one thing and when I get to know you I am able to address different issues that could be contributing to that one specific problem. We all experience some difficulties in our lives sometimes and we all cope differently. What works for one person/couple who are experiencing a similar situation may not work for another and so I personalize your treatment to fit you. Being in therapy is like being on a journey, I make sure you are in the driver’s seat and I become your great working GPS, guiding you to your desired destination. I also hold a degree in finance which sometimes comes handy when helping those who are stressed due to financial needs. Among the treatment modalities I use are: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Positive Parenting, Contingency Management...

Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counsellor (LCMHC) currently serving both North and South Carolina. I have utilized my Masters of Counseling in practice for 8 years. I've spent over 12 years as a Protective Services Social Worker and in that time I had the privilege to serve many people in many walks of life. That experience has given me a unique talent for connecting with people. I enjoy assisting older and young adults struggling with life, relationship and career stress, and others just finding it difficult to become the best versions of themselves.

I’m a therapist who believes meaningful change comes from a combination of insight, accountability, and consistent action. My work is shaped not only by clinical training, but by a grounded understanding of adversity, resilience, and what it takes to rebuild and move forward. I work with individuals and couples who feel stuck in patterns—whether related to trauma, stress, relationships, or major life transitions—and are ready to create something more stable and intentional. Many of my clients are navigating challenges such as emotional reactivity, impulsive behaviors, or difficulty maintaining consistency in their lives. My approach is direct, practical, and focused on helping you develop the tools needed for real, lasting change. I use evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing to support emotional regulation, stronger decision-making, and long-term growth. I have a particular interest in working with individuals navigating recovery, reentry, and significant life rebuilding, while remaining open to anyone seeking clarity, stability, and a more grounded way of living.
