My name is Janet Muta and I am a Licensed Clinician with over 17 years of experience in mental health, behavioral issues and relationships. I treat individuals from diverse backgrounds. My approach is treating the whole person because most of the time our problems are the outcome of more than just one thing and when I get to know you I am able to address different issues that could be contributing to that one specific problem. We all experience some difficulties in our lives sometimes and we all cope differently. What works for one person/couple who are experiencing a similar situation may not work for another and so I personalize your treatment to fit you. Being in therapy is like being on a journey, I make sure you are in the driver’s seat and I become your great working GPS, guiding you to your desired destination. I also hold a degree in finance which sometimes comes handy when helping those who are stressed due to financial needs. Among the treatment modalities I use are: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Positive Parenting, Contingency Management...
In our first session I will get the opportunity to start knowing you as a whole person and what contributes to the needs that have brought you here. Sometimes there are different things that contributes to one big problem and by exploring those things it helps to get to the bottom of the problem so that we can effectively focus on the solution.
The many years I have worked with people from different backgrounds and with different or similar needs. It is not a one size fits all but with different methods/techniques there is something that can work for you.
I treat individuals and couples from diverse backgrounds. I am also trained in working with military individuals/families.

As always, Janet was very helpful, in both listening and offering real, practical options.

Janet helped me get grounded during my time of transitioning into a new season. I was struggling with time management, executive function and organization she helped me organize my thoughts and goals into plans of action.

After initially engaging therapists who spent our first session talking as much as I did, it was a refreshing relief to be able to just share and frame my concerns with context, with appropriate slight redirections and occasional clarifying questions. Janet was warm, approachable, and easy to talk to, while maintaining the balance of goal-oriented therapy vs sharing with a friend. One session is only the start, but the start was good! Looking forward to what's ahead.
