About me

As an African American Licensed Therapist Male, I am particularly drawn to helping all persons (Children, Teens & Adults) overcome mental, physical and emotional issues. I believe in using therapy as a means to be helping people find the tools within themselves to move towards a positive and meaningful mental health. As a social worker, I consider "the whole person" and the systems impacting them to offer a positive therapeutic experience. I support clients of all backgrounds to address various issues including depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, substance abuse, relationship and family conflicts. I specialize in working with children and teens ages 6-17 years old. I utilize play therapy and mindfulness techniques to help children communicate their feelings, explore their world and resolve conflicts. I also specialize in working with adults in trauma treatment using CBT, DBT, Solution Focused, Acceptance and Commitment & Skills Development. My biggest passion is helping empower individuals to find their own greatness. Do you want to discover the best ways to manage your emotions and cultivate self-control for yourself, your family, your community? If you seek support and guidance, interested in thriving, I invite you to reach out for consultation. I am a good support for those who need it.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first session is all about getting to know you, understanding your goals, and creating a plan that feels right for you. We’ll take some time to talk about what brought you in, answer any questions you may have, and discuss what you can expect moving forward. Come as you are there’s no need to prepare anything in advance. My goal is to make your first session comfortable, supportive, and focused on helping you feel confident about the next steps

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As an African American LCSW and Staff Psychologist, I bring a culturally responsive, compassionate, and holistic perspective to every session. I understand that our identities, lived experiences, family systems, communities, and environments can all shape how we experience ourselves and the world around us. I strive to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, respected, and free to show up as their authentic selves. My approach is collaborative and strengths-based—I don’t believe you are defined by your challenges. Instead, I work alongside you to recognize your strengths, build on your existing resilience, and develop practical tools that support meaningful and lasting change. What stands out about my approach is the combination of clinical knowledge, cultural understanding, and genuine human connection. I meet clients where they are, honor their individual experiences, and tailor our work to their unique needs, goals, and values. My goal is not simply to help you cope, but to empower you to better understand yourself, navigate life’s challenges, and create a life that feels more fulfilling and aligned with who you are.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is someone who is ready to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and make meaningful changes in their life. They may be experiencing stress, anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, trauma, emotional difficulties, or simply feel stuck and unsure of their next steps. I work well with clients who are open to exploring their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and life experiences in a safe and supportive environment. You don’t have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Whether you are seeking healing, personal growth, better coping skills, improved relationships, or greater confidence, I will meet you where you are. My ideal client is willing to be honest, curious, and engaged in the therapeutic process. Together, we can identify your strengths, work through barriers, develop practical coping strategies, and help you move toward a healthier and more fulfilling life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT helps clients identify the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and develop healthier, more effective ways of responding to challenges.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT provides practical skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and healthier relationships.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT supports clients in developing psychological flexibility, accepting difficult emotions without allowing them to control their lives, and taking meaningful action based on their values.

Trauma Informed Care

When working with clients who have experienced trauma, I use trauma-informed and trauma-focused interventions that prioritize safety, trust, empowerment, and emotional regulation. With children and adolescents, I may incorporate developmentally appropriate play-based techniques to help them express emotions, process experiences, build coping skills, and communicate in ways that feel natural to them.

Motivational Interviewing

I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients explore their own reasons for change in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment. Rather than telling clients what they “should” do, I work collaboratively with them to identify their values, strengths, goals, and personal motivations. MI can be especially helpful when clients feel uncertain, stuck, overwhelmed, or conflicted about making a change. Through thoughtful questions, reflective listening, and genuine collaboration, I help clients recognize their capacity for change and build confidence in taking meaningful steps forward.
