New to Grow
Hey There! My name is Brandy Jones and I aim to create a space where you will not be judged, but will be unconditionally supported as we navigate through your concerns and fears. I believe that you are the expert on your life, and will bring my expertise in therapy to collaboratively find the relief and the balance that you seek. I have a Master degree in Addiction Counseling and Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University. I currently serve adolescents and adults with mental health and substance use disorders, using CBT, Person-Centered Therapy, Trauma Informed Therapy, Grief counseling and EMDR informed treatment.
My hope is that clients with gain better coping skills, self-awareness and emotional relief. I also assist with communication skills and resolving conflict.
My approach to therapy is cognitive behavioral which emphasizes what people think rather than what they do by changing their thoughts, people can change how they feel and what they do.
There is no perfect client however, my ideal client would be someone that is willing to participate, open, honest and reliable. During therapy, willingness to share real feelings and difficult truths can help the process. Also, self reflection to include looking at how one’s past and current actions affect their lives. An ideal client would respect boundaries, show up on time for treatment and communication effectively when appointments need to rescheduled or cancelled prior to the appointment.
Cognitive behavioral therapy emphasizes what people think rather than what they do. Cognitive behavioral therapists believe that it's dysfunctional thinking that leads to dysfunctional emotions or behaviors. By changing their thoughts, people can change how they feel and what they do.
