Hi! I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Maryland, DC, VA, and FL. I received my Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy and PhD in Public Health/Family Sciences from the University of Maryland, and MBA from the Louisiana State University. I have been practicing for over 25 years. I specialize in couple and family relationships; however, I also work with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, life transitions, and relationship problems.
Hello, my name is Laura Reynolds. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with 20 years of diverse experience in the mental health and substance abuse treatment field. Throughout my career, I have served in a variety of roles, including therapist and director, across numerous agencies.
My approach to counseling is eclectic, allowing me to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and addiction counseling. My goal is to provide a supportive, collaborative, and client-centered environment that empowers individuals to achieve their personal goals and improve their overall well-being.
I'm a psychotherapist with 35-plus years of experience. After completing training in clinical social work and psychology at the University of Maryland (M.S.W., 1988) and Saybrook Institute (Ph.D., 1991), I began practicing as a family, couples and individual therapist. I have hosted on radio/podcasts, have written two books and thousands of self-help articles in my "Life's a Beach" column for nationwide Gannett media. I love working with clients in the here-and-now, and finding solutions to move forward with life. My primary goal is to help you help yourself. I will guide and coach you, not tell you what to do. Diagnostic labels are useful at times, but you are not your labels. I'm your thinking partner: We'll reason and think our way to what makes sense together.
I'm here to help you get your mind right so you can live better! We will use our time to help you think greater than you are feeling! Together we can have conversations that lead to change. Let's explore those emotional hurdles and eliminate weapons of self-destruction!
I take a logical and participatory approach to therapy, harnessing the power of the mind to facilitate positive change. Inspired by the belief that thoughts shape reality, I help clients explore and challenge their thoughts to create transformative change.
My role is to help you stop waiting for your circumstances to change—and instead begin taking deliberate, disciplined action toward your healing, wholeness, and becoming. You don’t have to figure it out alone.
I have lived a life much like most of my clients. I have experienced hardships and achievements, sadness and joy, and disappointment in myself and in others. For most of my life, I have been lucky enough to somehow “figure it out” on my own. At one point in my life, I made a commitment to myself that no one should have to “figure it out” on their own. We all need to have someone who is committed to helping us out when we are at our most vulnerable.
Michelle Milligan, LCSW, LCSW-C, LISW, LISW-C, and LIMHP, for the past 25 years, is a dedicated and experienced Licensed Social Worker in multiple states with a strong background in providing therapeutic services across various disciplines. Her commitment to excellence and compassionate approach make her a valuable asset in medical, clinical, and psychiatric social work settings." I specialize in treating Racial Trauma in the workplace, Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome, Social and General Anxiety and Mood Disorders (depression and bipolar), Anxiety (Social Phobia and PTSD), Transitional Stressors (divorce, grief, occupational and family changes), couples and family counseling, behavioral problems with adolescents, ADD and AD/HD, and problems with anger and impulsivity.
I’m a therapist who believes deeply in the power of connection, compassion, and honest conversation. Over the past 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside people facing trauma, ADHD, grief, and the many transitions that come with aging, and I approach each person’s story with respect and genuine curiosity. I work gently and collaboratively, creating a space where you can slow down, breathe, and explore what you’re carrying without judgment. As someone who has always shared my life with animals, I understand how grounding and healing those bonds can be, and I welcome clients who find comfort and strength in them too. My goal is to help you feel supported, understood, and empowered as you move toward a life that feels more steady, meaningful, and hopeful.
Outside of my work, I’m someone who finds joy in simple, grounding things. I love reading, spending time in nature, and making enthusiastic—but often less‑than‑successful—attempts at gardening. Building LEGO is one of my favorite mindfulness activities, and I enjoy attending local outdoor festivals, practicing quiet moments of mindfulness, and spending time with my pets, family, and friends. These parts of my life help me stay balanced, present, and connected, and they often inform the warmth and authenticity I bring into the therapy room.

Hi, my name is Candace, but you can call me Candy,
You have taken the first and often hardest step in bettering your life by seeking help! Beginning therapy can be scary and people often feel vulnerable when doing this. One of my attributes is to try and make this journey as comfortable as possible for you.
I have worked in the mental health field for more than 28 years and have been licensed for 8 years. My vast experience has allowed me to gain knowledge in the many stressors that people may face during their life. . I have been honored by each person that I’ve worked with as they have allowed me a windows view of their life and the issues each of them had. My thought on counseling is that the person seeking therapy and the therapist are a team and work together as a team to identify goals, find solutions and overcome the issues at hand.
I have a desire to use my empathetic and compassionate nature along with my experience to help people find and utilize services, coping skills and solutions that will assist them in gaining a better quality of life. I do this by providing a confidential safe and judgment free place for those seeking therapy to discuss their situations and needs. I use a strengths-based approach along with solution focused and cognitive behavioral therapy. I am good at thinking outside the box to help people in identifying and reaching their goals.
Hello, I'm Shawnta (pronounced with a long a sound at the end)!

You have made a huge, important step by seeking therapy. I help men, women, and adolescents overcome challenges related to depression and anxiety. Together, we can identify where you are and where you want to be, what's working and what's not working, and set a plan on how to move forward. I approach therapy from a person-centered model, so your goals for therapy will be rooted in what you would like to accomplish.
I look forward to working with you!

PS: For the Teach for America Corps member's, please be advised that I was employed at a Regional Office of Education for over 12 years in a clinical capacity . I worked with teachers, school administrators, students and parent groups. I understand school cultures, the geopolitical pressures and expectations that are often placed on the teaching profession to achieve academic outcomes.
Hello, my name is Ronak Makadia, and I am a licensed clinical psychologist (Psy.D.) with additional training in social work (MSW). As a second-generation, Asian American I quickly learned the stigma and shame attached to attending therapy, especially within the Asian American community. As a cis-gender woman of color, I value and will provide culturally competent services.
Please note that I only accept adults and older adults who are high-functioning but need support to overcome barriers. Due to the nature of my private practice, I am unable to accept clients who are seeking treatment for trauma, substance use or severe mental illness.
I work alongside patients to overcome any barriers they may be facing. I will always encourage you to create, learn, and consistently use healthy coping mechanisms. To avoid staying stuck, I collaborate with you in developing solutions to aid you in moving forward in your life. We all get stuck sometimes and I am here to help. Therapy does not have to be a painful experience and I will be here to guide you toward improvement in a welcoming, affirmative environment.
I support the movement to destigmatize therapy and make mental health care accessible for all. I will continue to support this mission and provide quality counseling. Talk to me about scheduling a first appointment if you are interested in working together.
I look forward to working with you!
With 26 years of experience in the mental health field, my background spans a wide array of treatment settings and diverse populations. My journey began in wilderness programming for adolescents, witnessing how nature and challenge foster powerful change. I then transitioned to residential programs for at-risk youth—including those with severe behavioral challenges and adolescent sexual offenders—and provided substance use treatment for youth and adults in detention facilities. Since 2016, I have focused heavily on the intersection of mental health and addiction, treating them as deeply interconnected.
Today, I specialize in treating all types of addiction, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and certain personality disorders. My passion lies in helping adolescents (ages 14–18) and adults navigate their struggles with honesty, support, and practical solutions. Taking an eclectic approach, I incorporate Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, CBT, DBT, and Mindfulness into my practice. I also integrate creative modalities like sand tray and art therapy, knowing healing doesn’t always happen through words alone. Over my career, I have run numerous therapy groups and worked with a broad range of individuals, including LGBTQ+ and deaf clients.
Academically, I earned my bachelor’s in Psychology and Sociology from Frostburg State University (2000) and my Master of Social Work from Salisbury University (2011), obtaining my LGSW in 2011 and my LCSW-C in 2014.
At my core, I believe a fulfilling life requires balancing and nurturing the body, mind, and soul. My therapeutic approach is straightforward, genuine, and transparent: I don’t sugarcoat things, and what you see is what you get. I entered this field with a singular, clear purpose—to help people—and that remains my exact intention every day.
I use the newest advances in neuroscience to heal emotional pain, anxiety, trauma, depression and PTSD. These issues cannot be solved with TALK THERAPY as recent research has found that the emotional pain of past events is stuck and resides within your body and nervous system. Adrenaline is flowing through your system which is keeping you anxious. Research shows that we have to remove the trauma from your body-mind, reduce the adrenaline/cortisol, and only then activate your conscious medial cortex to "reframe and rethink" the issues. First we heal the body, then we will heal the mind.
I work with people of all faiths. I believe in a spirituality that transcends religion. With my guidance, you can transform negative energy into positive growth. You are unique, and your struggles have never been experienced by anyone else in the world. That's why I am committed to helping you on your journey towards finding meaning, purpose, and self-actualization. I will guide you towards a happier, more fulfilling life. If you are ready to take the first step towards a better tomorrow, please reach out to me to schedule an appointment.
I have developed a transformative program called Consciousness that helps individuals overcome feelings of sadness, anger, and loss. My approach acknowledges that crises can be opportunities to tap into hidden strengths and abilities, rather than mere setbacks that can break us. I will help you embrace a more positive, hopeful and energetic approach to life. You can learn more about Consciousness in my book Stay Woke and Ignite Your Soul.
The challenge you are currently facing is your special project or mission. You can do this. I will help guide you on your continuing journey toward self-discovery. Take the first step toward growth and a better life.

Counseling can foster personal development in whatever way you may be seeking and help build the life you so deeply deserve. If that's what you're looking for, I'm here when you're ready to share.
First of all, I love what I do and to witness the positive changes clients make in their lives as a result of choosing therapy to help them accomplish what they want. Often the goal is to achieve symptom relief so as to not be overwhelmed by anxiety, mood disorders or be better able to manage the challenges of ADHD. Sometimes there is not a specific outcome identified but a need for ongoing support for dealing with life transitions or difficult people. Sometimes clients use therapy as a confidential sounding board where they can talk to an objective outsider about situations and sort out their perspective. I offer various ways to see and respond to situations that might otherwise not be considered. Your opinion as a client is the most important one and I will also honestly provide mine when asked for. I believe therapy can actually be something that you can look forward to and an opportunity to learn new skills to use long after you discontinue, and we can even have some fun and laughs along the journey.
Have you been carrying the weight of anxiety, past trauma, relationship challenges, or overwhelming stress while trying to hold everything together?
You don't have to navigate it alone.
I believe therapy should be a place where you feel genuinely heard, respected, and supported. My goal is to create a safe, compassionate environment where you can show up as your authentic self without fear of judgment.
I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, stress, burnout, and life transitions. Together, we'll identify the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, build healthy coping skills, and develop practical tools that support lasting emotional wellness.
My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, culturally responsive, and tailored to your unique experiences. I integrate evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and EMDR when appropriate.
Whether you're seeking support for a difficult season or ready to begin deeper healing, I'd be honored to walk alongside you.
I am a dedicated and experienced therapist committed to helping individuals create meaningful and lasting change in their lives. I specialize in working with adults who are navigating depression, anxiety, PTSD, and relationship challenges.
My approach integrates solution‑focused strategies with cognitive‑behavioral therapy (CBT), offering practical tools and supportive guidance. In our sessions, we’ll work together to identify the goals you want to achieve, develop clear strategies for reaching them, and break those strategies into manageable steps that support your long‑term success.
