Hi! I'm a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) based in Maryland; dedicated to empowering individuals to overcome challenges, cultivate resilience, and live authentically. I received my Masters from the University of Maryland-Baltimore and have been practicing for 12 years. I'm here to support you on your journey to healing and growth. I bring a compassionate, nonjudgmental, and collaborative approach to therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session with me, clients can expect a warm and welcoming environment where they are encouraged to share openly and honestly about their concerns, goals, and experiences. Here's an overview of what typically happens in the initial session: Introduction and Orientation: We'll begin by introducing ourselves and discussing the logistics of therapy, such as confidentiality, scheduling, fees, and any paperwork that needs to be completed. I'll also take some time to explain my approach to therapy and answer any questions you may have. Exploration of Concerns: The bulk of the session will be dedicated to exploring your reasons for seeking therapy and the specific issues or challenges you're facing. I'll invite you to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with, and I'll actively listen with empathy and without judgment. Assessment and Goal Setting: I'll ask questions to gain a deeper understanding of your background, current circumstances, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. Together, we'll collaboratively identify your goals for therapy and discuss the areas you'd like to focus on. Establishing Rapport: Building a strong therapeutic relationship is essential for successful therapy outcomes. I'll strive to create a safe and trusting space where you feel heard, validated, and respected. You're encouraged to express your thoughts, feelings, and concerns openly, knowing that you're in a supportive and nonjudgmental environment. Initial Feedback and Recommendations: Based on the information shared during the session, I may offer some initial feedback, insights, or observations. I'll also discuss potential therapeutic approaches or strategies that may be beneficial for addressing your concerns. Together, we'll begin to outline a plan for moving forward in therapy. Closing and Next Steps: Towards the end of the session, we'll summarize our discussion, review any key takeaways, and discuss next steps. This may include scheduling future sessions, completing any necessary paperwork, or engaging in specific homework assignments or self-care practices. The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, establish rapport, and begin the collaborative process of therapy. My goal is to create a supportive and empowering environment where you feel comfortable exploring your concerns, working towards your goals, and ultimately, experiencing positive growth and change.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a therapist, I believe my greatest strengths lie in my ability to create a compassionate, nonjudgmental, and collaborative therapeutic environment where clients feel supported, understood, and empowered. I believe my strengths as a provider lie in my ability to form genuine connections with clients, collaborate effectively in the therapeutic process, and empower clients to navigate challenges, cultivate resilience, and create positive change in their lives.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In practice, I typically start by conducting a thorough assessment to understand the client's presenting concerns, their cognitive and behavioral patterns, and their goals for therapy. Then, I collaborate with the client to develop a treatment plan tailored to their specific needs. Throughout therapy, I emphasize collaboration, empowerment, and skill-building. I encourage clients to take an active role in their treatment and provide them with the tools and support they need to make meaningful changes in their lives.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

In my experience, DBT has been particularly effective in working with clients who struggle with emotion dysregulation, self-harm behaviors, suicidal ideation, borderline personality disorder (BPD), and other conditions characterized by intense emotional distress.

Couples Counseling

In couples counseling, I draw from various therapeutic approaches, tailored to the unique needs and dynamics of each couple. One approach that I often find valuable is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Throughout the process, I strive to create a safe and supportive therapeutic environment where couples feel heard, understood, and validated. By fostering emotional connection, promoting effective communication, and addressing underlying attachment needs, EFT can help couples cultivate a more secure, satisfying, and resilient relationship.

Eclectic

In my practice, I often adopt an eclectic approach, drawing from a variety of therapeutic methods and techniques based on the individual needs and preferences of each client or situation. This approach allows me to tailor treatment plans that are most effective and suitable for the unique circumstances presented by each client. By integrating various therapeutic methods and techniques, I aim to provide holistic, personalized care that addresses the diverse needs of each client. This eclectic approach allows for flexibility and creativity in treatment planning, ultimately maximizing the likelihood of positive outcomes and client satisfaction.

Mind-body approach

In my practice, I often incorporate a mind-body approach, recognizing the interconnectedness of mental, emotional, and physical well-being. This approach emphasizes the importance of addressing both psychological and physiological factors in promoting holistic health and healing.
