I got into the counseling field because I wanted to be a change agent. I want to be able to help people move to the next level in life. I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Addiction Counselor. My career as a counselor has taken me to many settings. I have worked in the criminal justice field as a counselor as well as with the Veterans populations.
The way we move through the world has a lot to do with who we are and who were evolving to be. Our experiences, often contribute to our decision making, more than we realize. When we live with unhealed trauma, our hurt often displays as anger, depression, and low confidence. I strongly believe that representation matters and equitable mental health is necessary. I advocate for accessible and equitable mental health for people of color and incorporate this into my practice.
I am a licensed mental health therapist and licensed school counselor. I received a Bachelors in Psychology and a Masters of Science in Counseling and Counselor Education. I have worked in inpatient and outpatient mental health, school counseling, school-based therapy, and private practice. I have over seven years of experience as a therapist and twelve years of experience in mental health.
In addition to working with adults, I also work with adolescents. Adolescent therapy is a specialty in itself, as it is much different than working with adults. With over seven years of experience working with children and adolescents, I incorporate my experience working in education and school-based therapy, for my clients.
