Are you stressed and overwhelmed by your health, your day-to-day life, or your relationships? As a Psychologist with more than 30 years of experience, as well as being a two-time breast cancer survivor and a caretaker for my elderly parents, I can help you to navigate health issues and life stresses more effectively.
Life can be difficult for each of us at some point in time, in ways unique to our own circumstances. My goal is to help people through the tough chapters so that they move into better chapters with additional tools to handle challenges and stresses. I don't view people as being broken or needing fixing. We all need someone with whom to sort things through at times, someone who isn't part of our day-to-day mix.
In therapy, clients develop more effective expectations by redefining their stresses and challenges, reduce emotional upset and distress by looking at their issues from a new angle, and feel empowered by trying new approaches to effective problem-solving. I would be pleased to walk this journey with you, to reduce stress and find a more satisfying approach to life.
Available appointments are those set aside specifically for intakes. I see clients through Grow Therapy on Monday and Tuesday. I cannot do letters, FMLA forms or provide disability opinions for clients who have not already been involved in therapy with me for at least several months. While I really enjoy working with individuals aged 65 and older, due to Medicare regulations, I cannot see traditional Medicare clients for self-pay. I can see those seniors with Medicare Replacement plans which are accepted by Grow Therapy. I only work with individuals, and do not do marital or family therapy.

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and licensed professional counselor with 20 years of experience. I have experience working with kids, couples, families, and adult individuals. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I am no stranger to helping those in struggling relationships and marriages. I also have an extensive history in working with individuals struggling with many different issues including (but not limited to) anxiety, over-thinking, perfectionism, depression, rejection/abandonment issues, sexual issues, inferiority feelings, panic, and trauma. While my approach is very much evidence based, I often remark that I am more like a tour-guide helping others better understand their own emotional world. You are the one doing the work, I am just making connections and pointing out the interesting tidbits along the way.

After being adopted in Los Angeles, California, I grew up in a multi-cultural family from East Side San Jose, California. Prior to earning my Ph.D. in Psychology via an academic institution, I had already earned my Ph.D. in "Hustling" via the streets of the Bay Area in the dope game. Is your depressive energy stopping you from even doing the fun stuff? Congrats. You being here, means you’re half way outta there. You don’t have to go through life’s difficult moments alone.

My approach is warm, genuine, and practical. I believe therapy should feel like a conversation rather than an interrogation. Clients often describe me as compassionate, down-to-earth, and easy to talk to. I am not afraid to use humor when appropriate, because sometimes laughter can help us get through difficult moments. At the same time, I believe in being honest and direct. If I notice something that may be keeping you stuck, I will gently challenge you while providing the support needed to move forward.
My personal experiences have also shaped the therapist I am today. I understand that life can be messy, unpredictable, and overwhelming. These experiences allow me to bring both professional expertise and genuine empathy to the therapeutic relationship. I am here to help you move forward with confidence and clarity.
I look forward to being part of your journey.
As a therapist, I don’t offer a one-size-fits-all approach. I sit at a rare and powerful intersection of neuroscience, practical behavioral strategy, and deep, soul-level healing.
Here is who I am as a clinician:
1. I Bridge Logic and Depth
I possess the unique ability to bridge the gap between the logical, analytical mind and the emotional, intuitive self.
Through CBT, I am practical, structured, and evidence-based. I help you map out your mental loops and provide immediate, actionable tools for your daily life.
Through IFS, I pivot into a compassionate, non-pathologizing depth worker. I don't view you as "broken" or needing to be fixed; instead, I see you as a system of protective parts that deserve to be understood, healed, and unburdened.
2. I Provide Specialized, Biological Relief
My specialization in CBT-I means I deeply understand how the mind and body are connected. I don't just talk about stress abstractly—I actively solve the physiological crises, like chronic insomnia, that stress creates. This allows me to deliver tangible, measurable relief to your biological baseline so you actually have the physical energy to do the deeper emotional work.
3. I am Efficient, Collaborative, and Transformative
I am not interested in passive, aimless "venting sessions" that drag on for years without progress. My approach is active and modern. I act as a grounded guide to help you catch and rewire your immediate habits while simultaneously healing the deep-seated root vulnerabilities that drove those habits in the first place.
My Clinical Vibe
I provide a premium, sophisticated space where science meets profound self-discovery. To my clients, I am a warm, deeply empathetic anchor who can hold space for your most vulnerable inner world, while remaining sharp and structured enough to keep you moving forward toward a true internal reset.

Things have started falling apart around you. You're worried about losing a relationship, your job, or worse. People close to you have started to mention they are worried about you. A part of you wants to change, but you're stuck between unbearable emotions and trying to keep everything under control. And it's not working out. You may be lashing out, drinking more, or avoiding people close to you. Whether you are dealing with depression, anxiety, anger, shame from the past, or out-of-control substance use, you don’t have to stay where you are – suffering. You’re resilient and persistent, and right now, you’re just stuck.
I help people recover from being stuck in anxiety, depression, trauma, and/or the shame that comes with out-of-control substance use. I can help you figure out how to get back on track by teaching you the tools you’ll need to manage your feelings and problems and how to recover your relationships. No one needs to go through what you are feeling, alone.
If you are ready for a new strategy and to try something different, I can help. The biggest result I could give you is to help you remove barriers that prevent you from achieving your goals. I do this with DBT, Brainspotting, and other therapy techniques. Take the first step and schedule an appointment online.

My specialties include working with individuals with issues related to major life changes, depression, anxiety, addictions, career challenges, forensic and legal cases, and life crises. I went to school in Virginia and now I live in Georgia with my wife, son, and dog.
I am a licensed psychotherapist specializing in faith based Christian counseling, narcissistic family systems, and inner child that is used to guide others through grief & loss, life transition, and unresolved inner child dynamics. I assist individuals in understanding and addressing the impact of past experiences on their current mental health and relationships. My professional goal is to create a safe, nurturing environment and provide you with the support and insights needed for lasting personal growth and positive well-being.
Hi, I'm Essence, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, mother, doula, and owner of HER Healing. I understand the realities of juggling life's many responsibilities while trying to care for yourself in the process. Clients often describe me as warm, relatable, and supportive. I create a space where you can feel heard, gain clarity, and work toward meaningful, lasting change.
My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and focused on helping women find balance, healing, and sustainable wellness. I believe therapy should be both supportive and practical, providing a space to process life's challenges while developing tools that can be applied in everyday life. Whether you're navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, motherhood, relationship concerns, or simply feeling overwhelmed by the demands of life, I strive to meet you where you are and support you at a pace that feels right for you.
Together, we'll build on your strengths, explore the experiences that have shaped you, and create a path forward that aligns with your values, goals, and vision for your life.
